Bought J.F. Hillerich & Son dash diamond dash
5 Attachment(s)
I’m new to the forum but recently purchased a Louisville Slugger J.F. Hillerich & Son dash diamond dash. It’s 35 inches long, the stamping is reversed, and based on everything I’m seeing the bat looks authentic. However, I thought the J.F. Hillerich would have the original font and it doesn’t appear to. I’d really appreciate anyone’s insight.

Nice Bat. How did you come across it?

Thank you! I found it with some other period baseball equipment at an estate sale

For a reverse label, the font looks weird; although I can't really see the fine details from the pictures.
I am interested in what others have to say. When you say "original font"; do you mean the "hee-haw" font? It would not necessarily have that. Given the context of where you found it, I would not have hesitated to grab it. |

I’m not sure what the font is called but I know it’s not as simplistic as what’s on this bat. I tried taking better pictures.

Do you mean this font?

Yes. That’s the font I was expecting to see. Is it likely that a dash diamond dash could have either font?
|
Yes. I have both in my collection. The font you are referring to is a bit older.
The only odd thing that I saw was that your "M" is vertical; I think mine is splayed out more, like an upside down "W"; and the "G"s are wider than mine. But I can't tell too much from the pics. My guess is that the bat is correct, just an alternate font. |
