Under-Appreciated Cards / Issues

What would be your vote(s) for vintage cards that appear to remain comparatively undervalued in today's card market? I will start with a couple of cards from the T201 set: Mathewson & Speaker.

The T201 set probably stays relatively low in value for two good reasons - 1) multiple players on the same card have never been popular with collectors, and 2) the artwork isn't as finely detailed as it could have been, causing many of the player images to be less than desirable. Heck, some of those images only vaguely resemble the players they represent (Ty Cobb comes to mind).

However, in the case of Mathewson & Speaker, both of their pictures are evidently from the same photos that were used on the T206s, and these have head-to-toe images of their likenesses set against full-color backgrounds of the ballparks of that era. So when you fully extend the the card panels on these two, you get gorgeous, oversized cards of top tier Hall of Famers in classic poses that we all recognize. I just love those two and think they are very undervalued.

I agree! I have acquired a few a these for surprisingly reasonable prices. Maybe it's just me, but I've always felt that C46s are undervalued.

Understanding there are a few exceptions (Million, Weaver, Gandil) Obaks are beautiful. I think they have crept up quite a bit, but for a long time they were very afforable.

The T205 set. Personally I find it just as iconic as the T206 but there is clearly a price differential.

American Caramel E121 Series of 80 and Series of 120, E126 American Caramel, E220 National Caramel, W503, and some others from the 1920's decade that many collectors overlook because the cards for the most part are black and white photo issues that lacked color.

Many of the sets which utilize black & white photos on their cards. Some of them can be had for a song. Here’s one of many examples:

I second this, gorgeous artwork and aesthetic. I picked up a normal looking PSA 1 this morning on eBay auction for $4.25 ($9.09 after tax and shipping). These still sometimes totally fall through the cracks. The increasing focus on superstars with bigger names continuing to multiply hasn’t really affected commons so much, which 99% of Obak players are. Minor league issues tend to be a bargain if you care more about cards than players.

I agree with the C46 post on the same reasoning.

I agree and love the 48 Bowmans (and other black and whites).
