1914-15 Cracker Jack Differences

I just got 4 of the 1915 cards, raw. They are on cardboard stock, and the backs are upside down from the fronts. In my research, I see they are virtually identical to 1914 with two exceptions: 1914 is very thin cardstock or paper, and 1914 backs are aligned with the fronts, not reversed. The 1915 cards I have are fairly thick. Does that seem proper?

To help the most you should try to post scans. As far as thickness, the 1915s might be slightly thicker but not by much.

Bottom paragraph on the reverse of each reads -

1914 CJ's - Complete set has 144 pictures

1915 CJ's - Complete set of 176 pictures

I believe 1914s were much more likely than 1915s to come in boxes of cracker Jacks and thus tend to have much more caramel staining on them. Some of us prefer the stains!!

I will post pix when I get home this evening. Got 6 cards, 4 of them are '15 Cracker Jacks.

And some of us are OK either way :)

I think the paper stock is the same - thin - on both '14 and '15s.

Stock is DEFINITELY thicker on the 1915s. The 1914s are extremely thin.

I think the difference is similar to a T206 vs thinner T213-1 Coupon or T216 Kotton. They appear the same but when you hold both in hand its a noticeable difference.

Just my experience :)

Here are my four 1915 CJs. The stock is definitely thicker than paper, but thinner than what I would term cardstock. They smell right, feel right, loupe right, and do not fluoresce under the blacklight. No white borders, and the corners on all 4 are soft. Very soft. Very fragile. Any weird artifacts are the result of my phone camera.

Hard to tell, they look a little flat but that just might be the photo. Here's a couple of 14's for comparison.

Yes, Phil, it's my camera. They don't look flat. They are also in proper focus in reality also (McGraw).

Nice group of cards, congrats.

Not sure if it has been said but Both years the cards could be obtained in the box. In 1915 you could send in -for a fee -the entire set to be sent to you in an album to be mailed to you. Those copies were clean understandably and never made it to the box. 1914s much lower population due to this fact. And 1915s can be found near mint in some instances.. 1914s only could be obtained in the Cracker Jack boxes...
