Show your T206 freaks, errors, and scraps
6 Attachment(s)
This thread goes out to a few Goonies I know....
I am sure there are (many) past threads on the topic, so apologies for the redundancy, but really what is one more T206 thread?! Aside from the Magie, the Doyle NY Nat'l, and Brown Old Mills, I am not an error/scrap/freak collector, but I know there are many on here who are. There are also many new users who I thought may want to see some freaks and learn more about them. Here are my only three error/freaks, all acquired because they have Brown Old Mill advertisements on them; and one has a Cy Young Portrait Ghost Image to boot. Lets see those freaks, errors, and scraps! |
These are great, Ryan. Thanks for posting.

These two are what I have to offer before much more impressive ones come down the pike. An offset Donovan with Donovan being both on top and bottom on front and portion of another card on the back, and a Magee Sweet Caporal 460 missing the overprint.

is that Magee Sweet Caporal 460 missing the overprint very rare? To someone like me who isn't a Magee collector, I would have no clue at all.

Just won this off the Bay...to me it looks like a scrap given the uneven cut and off centeredness of the back. Thoughts on this? I don't have it in hand yet.

Ryan, Goonies Never Say Die! ;)
Your cards are amazing! Here's a few I have... |
Thanks Mike and John.
Bill, it’s tough to see from the pic, but at least one edge looks a little wonky. I don’t think the OC on the back is relevant. Regardless, I don’t feel comfortable opining on your query, but there are plenty on here who will. |
I like em weird.
Recently re-acquired the Willetts, thanks Mike! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a222835a_c.jpghttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7bb35856_c.jpghttps://live.staticflickr.com/5486/9...a9b8c8db_c.jpg |

The Donovan that MVSNYC posted is the Major League oddity compared to my minor league Donovan curiosity.

Here's a few T206 scans I had available. I have other oddity type T206's but would need to dig them out and scan them. If I'm not working this summer, I'll be scanning my T206 collection and making the scans public.
Probably most of you have seen these a few times already. Hopefully the scans show up. I've been having issues posting scans. The scan sizes are no different than what I've used in the past and what I see others posting. Ron, Wow!
Since someone has to follow that, here are a few odd balls, nothing spectacular, but I found these cool and I think they fit the bill Cheers All |

Awesome thread, so many amazing cards! Here's probably my two favorite error cards I own...Knight (port) miscut and Knight (bat) missing color.
|
2 Attachment(s)
I picked this one up recently. The most drastic miscut I have, and an ultra rare EPDG!
|
Great additions to the thread- Chris, Sonny, Scott, etc, etc. Awesome stuff.
Kevin, the chain of ownership of the Knight Miscut... Scott & Hank, Me, Wonka, Me again, You. Great example. |
Herzog looks hand cut to me.
There are a bunch of Sweet Cap cards that are missing their overprints and therefore are no prints: https://net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=245983 There was a large group of them that showed up on Ebay in 2016-2017 but for the life of me I cannot find that thread. Many of the cards that were missing the scroll were no prints (issued with the scroll but not without it) while the seller also had cards that were missing the scrolls and hand cut but that were issued both ways (I had a Herzog), so they were scraps too but not no prints. |

Here's another Blank Back Scrap (thanks Chuck!)...
|
No real differences from a production card, but almost for sure cut from a sheet.
https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...pictureid=1877 The few blank backs I have. I don't have Ellam anymore, but I've just been too lazy to do new scans. https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...pictureid=1876 Weird miscut from debris on the sacrificial strip in the cutter. https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...pictureid=7029 Downey and Lobert are from a lot on ebay that had 40+ years of sun exposure Huggins is one from a group of normal 350's that are naturally very washed out. Beck is missing two colors dark red and gray. https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=18319 |

An assortment of color printing errors......
Let's start with the "leader" of the Elite 11 group, Carl Lundgren. Note that his 4th card is missing blue ink (in the 6-color printing process). https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...n4versions.jpg .https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...n4versions.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...vereign50x.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...geYellow50.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...ereign350x.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...nklingpink.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |

No, I'm keeping Mr. Cobb but yes it would be cool in Jamie's run however that collection is a "Back" run and he has a Polar Bear back already! Thanks! Fun card! Mike |

I love that Bender Adam!
Here are two minor oddities, Moriarity missing ink (available) and a Davis that I think had a mixup on the light gray layer to add contrast and instead got a much darker shade that makes it look like there is a smoky fire behind him. |
Helm Multistrike
2 Attachment(s)
Here is another of the Southern Leaguers with the Brown OM, EPDG and Piedmont 350 multistrike back. The player on the back is Ganley which I find to be interesting (both Ganley and Schaefer are Elite 11 players). These seem (to me at least) to represent the transition from the 150 series to the 350 series, but I will let the experts chime in.
|
That awesome Sonny.
