Attachment 457792Need help: A Flee Market Find This Past Weekend is This 1880's Spalding Ring Bat Model No.1 Trophy - Size 30". This Rare Early Spalding Bat was Converted into A Trophy. Custom Hand Made Platform 1 inch Thick. Period Rusty Screws Underneath Platform into the Flat End Bat. Lighter area visible where a Nameplate once was affixed. Bat un-cracked. I want The Advice of Net54 Members on what I should do? Leave as is as a One Of A Kind Trophy? Should I seperate Bat from Platform? Please advise, and, Thank You Members, As Always |

I personally would leave it as-is. But if you were to separate the Bat from the Base (and professionally fill the nail holes) you might realize more money. I know you are primarily a seller, so you may want to reach out to Bill Rayburn to ask what such restoration might cost. I am sure Bill could make the repair virtually invisible. The extent to which the repair cost offsets the potential increase in price is anyone's guess. |
I personally would remove the base. Also a child's model which will hurt the price.

If you can remove the base with no issues, then yes take it off! Still a nice bat with the rings and logo - if the bat is youth make sure you state the length if selling

I actually like the way it looks with the base. If it was mine I would leave it bc that’s the way I found it.
