Post War Pennants for Sale
I was on vacation in a small north Idaho town yesterday. I came across a gem and rock store selling lots of sports stuff on consignment. It was mostly junk wax, early 90s Michael Jordan, and recent modern commons. However.... on the wall they had 3 felt pennants:
1959 LA Dodgers division champions, purple 1961 NY Yankees WS Champs w/ team photo 1962 NY Yankees WS Champs w/ team photo All three were for $500/each. Clerk said the consignor had more pennants if I was interested. He said he would ship anywhere. Framed w/ glass. The clerk knows nothing about baseball history. He told me the 1962 pennant was special because that was their first WS victory ever. So if you're interested, try to negotiate with the actual seller (whom he had to call right in front of me to get the price for the LA pennant). I told him I don't collect pennants, but I know some guys who do, and I would pass along the contact information. Way overpriced and worth $150 a piece in that condition (max).
I suppose the framing cost quite a bit to do, but most of us don't want to overpay, based on expensive frame jobs we may or may not like. I don't think any of those would reach the $200 mark, if listed on eBay. Just my .02 |
