Looking for info and help 1989 fleer negative
Hello all,
I have ran across something odd. And in my search for information on this piece I was told to join this forum. I was told there’s some very knowledgeable collectors here. So here goes. I have what appears to be a 1989 fleer Ken Griffey jr negative. It is smaller then a fleer mini card. It appears to be acetate. Or something similar. The man I bought it off of is an older gentleman who’s been collecting for over 40 years. He said he’s had the thing for over 10 years and bought it at an estate sale. He also said he has 4 or 5 others he got at the sale but they’re all common players. Griffey was the only star he had. Any ideas? Ps I tried to upload pictures but couldn’t I can email them to anyone interested in helping out or seeing the card. Thanks |
Your best bet to upload the images is to post them on Facebook or some other image sharing site, then use the yellow mountain icon above to paste the URLs from the web browser (make sure you delete the first http:// if your link already has one.)
Sounds like an interesting item, but I think you'd do better with it if you had the common players as well. There is a lot of sales of counterfeit items going on. |
Sounds like a cool item, I have made several over the years. never a Griffey but have made Bill Ripken and Randy Johnson mini acetate 89 Fleer cards.
If you can't get a pic to post PM me your email and I will get it posted for you. |
I will see about getting another common player or two.

Here are the Griffey pictures.

They look like a very low quality B/W inverted color "something" printed on acetate. Not sure how it would have been used by Fleer but would be very easy to make. But most stuff is very easy to make.

Yeah, you'd probably need to get some kind of proof that it was actually made by Fleer. There are people who counterfeit printing plates these days.

I sent an email to upper deck since they own fleer now. Hopefully I can find something out about it. If they were faked they were faked a long time ago. He had 5 negatives. Griffey and 4 common bums. He bought them all at an estate sale over 10 years ago.

They look to me like something a scammer might have made, but you also never know when something very unique (and real) finally hits the market after many years of being buried.

whatever it is, it's pretty damn cool looking
