anyone hear of ALT?
just saw a spot on cnbc about a company called alt, that is a platform tgat helps along the trading of cards along the lines of stocks. im gonna look more into this but has anyone heard of this?
|
Good Grief.....it should be called tracking trading slabs! That's all that matters to them, not the card, it's sad for the pure collector, great for the investor/ hedger.

The pit
|
They have been working on this site for over a year now...they are also the group that paid through the nose for those 2 basketball cards for over $5mm
|
Alexis Ohanian the founder of Reddit is funding it. All these new card "Investment" platforms will be sure to cause another bubble burst in the modern market
|
im i just not understanding wtf its about?? lol i like buying cards on ebay.
|
There is a thread on Blowout basketball forum about one of the guys involved in this. Anyone looking to do business there should read it.

I saw the CNBC bit this morning as well.
So I looked. There are over 2,000 cards that you can buy on the site - not even a drop in the bucket. They talked about being able to track the value of your card portfolio with their "Alt" pricing, so you wouldn't need a spreadsheet! I guess that is as opposed to the other already established means of doing so based on historical pricing. I might watch from the sidelines. |
We do not know who this "Alt" is but if he posts anything about us, we will sue him for defamation. Now excuse us whilst we touch ourselves, anon.
|
What is their site address? I tried
https://alt.com/ And not a place where card people want to go... Pretty funny |
Onlyalt.com is the site
Definitely don't want to view alt.com unless you are into that kind of stuff ;) Looks like it is catering to Modern basketball cards 2003 to present Lebron has 176 out of the 2001 cards for sale Looks interesting and it will probably do well with the newer collectors and investment type crowd Tony |
i saw the article this morning and then went to check out the site. As soon as I saw it, I had the same feeling I did after watching CNBC segments on the newest, hottest IPO of 1999 and checking out their sites.

I suppose if someone got burned on eBay with a bad transaction, that ALT seems like a good place to buy and sell. Just seems like another PWCC or Probstein type middleman.
