PayPal now charging fee to send money F/F

Has anyone else noticed PayPal is now charging a fee to send money to Family friends, etc..

tiger8mush 02-16-2021 03:28 PM

i thought they only charged a F/F fee if using credit card. They charge a fee when using account balance too?

Rhotchkiss 02-16-2021 03:33 PM

How much is the charge?

greenmonster66 02-16-2021 03:37 PM

I think its 5% and Yes for account balance which i only use.
Its weird I am on their site and it says: PayPal balance or a bank account No Fee

It does not say that on my PayPal. You may not be able to see pic well, but it says zero coming from an account and 2.9% from credit

I'm looking at their fees, and it says that the charge is 5% (min .99 max 4.99) if sending money internationally via FF. No charge if domestic (and using a bank account). Are you trying to send money internationally?

Yes I just saw that myself... so that answers my question! Thank you guys!

It wouldn't surprise me if PayPal did start charging for F&F, too many dishonest people abuse their service.

I just noticed that too this evening...…….they charged me .55 cents to send...guess its not free anymore

The thing you have to be careful with is a charge from your CC company for a cash advance. I was recently charged $20.50 for a F&F payment of 20 dollars to the guy who ran my fantasy football league. It's definitely new. I was able to call the CC company and get it reversed, but that kind of thing is hit and miss. I don't have a bank account attached to my PayPal, just a CC, so there isn't a way around it for me (other than not using F&F which I won't be anymore), but should be for anyone who gave PayPal their checking account info. I only use F&F maybe once a year, but I always recall a small PayPal fee, never had a CC fee before.

Are you referring to just about everyone on this site, in the Auctions and BST threads? :D

doug.goodman 02-16-2021 10:40 PM

I was not charged a fee when I sent some money today via f/f.

greenmonster66 02-17-2021 10:47 AM

I sent $$ from my balance to Canada and it charged me $1 (5%).

I've been selling (not on ebay) using f/f to my bank account and have not been being charged.

I know right, we're all friends here so I see no issues.....it says "Friends" and Family.

It also says "goods and services." Buying would be "goods." Just sayin'.
