Need Help to ID Roy Campanella 5x7" BW Signed Photo in Mets Uniform
7 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone. I need some help with this Campy signed photo (or not signed):
The origin of this item is I bought some late 1980's direct-from-Topps smaller cards sets, a few of the brown box sets, along with some misc 1970's and 1980's Mets memorabilia, pennants, programs. There was a 1976 Mets Photo Album, and when I looked inside before taking pictures to sell the album, I found this picture randomly inside. All the items in the entire lot were one owner or one family as this was part of a large collection. I don't know if this is an ink signed pic or a facsimile signature, but I don't know why the 1970's Mets would have made this item available? If you look at the close up of the pixelated picture, it does appear there is ink resting over the pixels as opposed to being a print, but then again that's why I'm asking for opinions here. Any info is appreciated. Where would this have originated from? Does this look like a legit sig? I'm well aware of Campy's signing history. Thanks for any info you can share. |
my guess is facsimile; cool item however

Since the Mets came into being in 1962 and Campy's accident was in 1958 the signature on the picture is obviously pre-accident there is 100% certainty the signature is part of the photo production.
