Topps 1974 Action Emblem Cloth Sticker Mystery

This obscure, unpopular, ugly Topps set pictures no real players and involves made up team logos. Why they issued it is a mystery itself. The set can be built in cardboard format or as cloth stickers. I have done both....not sure why. Also have the set on an uncut cardboard sheet. See below. As checklisted in SCD and elsewhere it involves 24 cloth or cardboard cards. Checklist in first link below. The set was retailed in packs. See below

Sometime back I ran into a cloth card picturing Detroit/Texas, see below, that is not on the uncut sheet I have or in the checklist ( only Detroit/NY is in the catalog set). Probably no one cares, but if anyone knows how this came about speak up

The lack of real logos was likely a licensing issue similar to what caused the lack of logos on the 73 Topps Comic and Pin Up sets. On the other hand the Topps 74 Puzzle set does have logos

Cool cards

I have never seen a more complete Topps collection than yours. Your obscure items are so cool. You put together an amazing run of Topps items. Thanks for sharing everything with us Al.

When the guy with the best post war collection I know about finds me acceptable, that's a good day

Best post war collection
Hmmm...considering everything I sold?
Maybe...we'll have to compare notes

Hi Larry What exactly did you sell ?

ALR-bishop 02-15-2021 09:26 AM

That is what I did Larry, took into account you sold much of it. A lot of great stuff. And I have been in Bob's basement. He made me organize and put stuff away. I was lucky to escape

Plus I said that I know about. Lot of hobby secrets out there.

Now days I am happy when I do not find myself bidding against either one of you

Post war

Pretty much not bidding on regular issues
All the 1948-91 sets are still intact
Would like to complete 2 master sets of 67 punchouts
Have about 160 of the 198 in singles
And 44 of the 66 triple panels
Combined have 197..still need a kaline lineup
Also if I see a box or shipping case
Its the oddball regional stuff thats the challenge I still enjoy
Unless of course I see a 1955 GEHRIG HOCUS FOCUS
Lol
