SOLD Walter Johnson Southland Bronze Figurine

1 Attachment(s)
10" high including base. Purchased from Southland when they came out in 1999, one owner, never displayed, perfect condition. These are rare and were only in production for a little while before the company went under. Supposed to be a limited edition of 100, my guess is they might have actually made and sold 20, more or less.

Southland did a beautiful job on this series, it's a shame it didn't work out.

Hank:

You are correct abut these being very rare. Southland said it was limited to 100, but in actuality statues were only made once a paid order was received. I have most of the company records and can tell you most orders were 20 or less.

Thanks, Fred. You mean that there were a total of fewer than 20 individual orders, right? The family got several samples, of which this is one, so that would add to the total a bit. Do you have a figure for the WaJos sold, or any other interesting information on the series? I did save the original SCD ads, there were only a couple before the company folded. I think there's been at least one thread on the subject, but it's a fascinating story--such a beautiful product, I guess the $900 price point was just too much at that time--and might be still today, based on the fact I haven't sold mine yet!.

Assuming you claimed it.... Congrats, Scott!

That is a beautiful piece and I came close to pulling the trigger on it. If current finances were better, I would've for sure.

Beautiful and rare addition to your marvelous collection! (again, assuming you got it! )
