Helmar Negro league cards? Other similar?

3 Attachment(s)
Have decided to add some newer, artistic/cool looking Negro league cards to my HOF collection.

I’ve seen some great looking Helmar cards on eBay and am wondering if members have other suggestions like this for my search.

Trying to keep budget low - at least for now... ok if they are not collectible in the traditional sense.

Here are a few images I’ve seen so far (not my cards) - appreciate any suggestions (I realize the Gibson is not a Helmar - looks like a 1964 topps style card which I think looks pretty cool)

Thx for suggestions

Jeff

Graig Kreindler's Negro League set is PHENOMENAL

They're sold out - but you should be able to find the set and/or examples on the secondary market

I hope I have enough money eventually to furnish a house with his paintings!

+100 on that. I have bought all the card sets that feature his work and have never been disappointed.

The Gibson is by monarch printing company. He made several different Negro league cards in his printed series including some tobacco sized cards. There are several on Ebay. grouchyoldman is the seller.

Let's see there are actually a lot of art-cards out there of the better known Negro League players etc....
Josh Gibson has 300+ different cards and Mule Suttles 80+ according to the Trading Card Database (tcdb.com) my go-to when I want to find a card of someone....
Some of the more available sets of Negro Leaguers include:

The 1986 Frisch set Black and White photos and some text on the back... You can still buy it from the source I think....

1990 Eclipse Stars of the Negro Leagues set -- images are pretty good the text on the back is very good IMO

Perez Steele: postcards etc -- beautiful cards of most of the HOF Negro Leaguers (I really think the faux T3 Card are great)... no info on the backs to speak of...

The "Dreams Fulfilled" 2020 set issued by the Negro League HOF and mentioned above is great and includes nearly ever figure a fairly casual collector could want to own a card of -- it's "sold out" for direct purchase but available on the secondary market... 5000 of each card issued.

Don't forget, the Ted Williams cards of the 1990s had a Negro Leagues subset. All the stars are in that subset. They can be found pretty cheap, last I checked, which was at the start of the pandemic.
