"freshy" Jordan cards keep making record high. $1.4Mil

I really need to stop checking HA and Goldin auctions, I got lots of sour grape for not having those Upper Deck Jordans. They keep on making record highs.

Where does all these money come from? Got to be from those young kids who now own startup companies. LOL

$1.4Mil OMG

Congrats to those sellers, these are life changing money.... sort of.

Wow, I don't get the level of appeal of these manufactured cards with a piece of fabric in them. Not even a rookie, or early card!

Boggles my mind when I think of all the incredible and historical cards I could pick up with that type of money!

To each their own for sure.

It’s not the price that surprises me but the card that went for that price. 8/23 so not that scarce in the grand scheme of these horrid cards, and it’s a plain white swatch. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I do not believe these numbers. Wait it out on the sidelines.
If I had extras of these in any grades now would be the time to sell.

Does this look a PUMP AND DUMP to anyone else ?

Modern is currently a giant ponzi scheme like Bitcoin, Gamestop etc.. Who will be left holding the bag?

Well, since a lot of the buyers right now are NBA players and dotcom millionaires, they don't seem to mind if their investments go back to 5 years ago pricing.

Not on Michael Jordan cards. He is the most popular athlete since Babe Ruth. These cards are being bought by rich people. They won't ever sell cheap. Now a million dollars for a Giannis or 4 million for Trout, I can see those cards being losers.

Agree with this...Even though I STILL think these prices for jordan rookies ARE pretty crazy in light of pops.

I've been asking my patients lately if they have any cards laying around...and the other day i was telling a guy about last weekends goldin's jordan hammers...and he just said "If I had a jordan rookie...I'd never sell it!"

I would!!!!

The Rich gained so much during the 08, they are the only ones capable getting loan access to buy asset for pennies, then again in 2020 pandemic, they killed many small business and transfer all their wealth. Remote work is killing jobs too, I recently got laid off since they figure out if we can work remotely , our job can go to india. more $$ to them. those guy probably making 1/2 or 1/3 of what we're making.
So you see all these iconic RC basketball/baseball/football/hockey will eventually be all owned by the rich for showing off/competeing with their rich buddy to see who got better collection.

Sorry to hear this. Companies are into off shore shxt again? They were on it for a few yrs and realized dealing with diff time zone and no in person interaction didn't work well. I guess things have changed and ZOOM meetings really make things easier. I hope u have some of those Jordans to help out expenses. Wish u best of luck!

Thanks. We're pretty much back into the globalization model and I expect many many more jobs will outsource in the next few years. Rich will get a lot richer. So should hold those super high end cards

Isn't basketball the most widely traded, world wide sports card there is?

It's not the favorite, or most popular sport world wide as soccer and cricket are but I think when it comes to basketball cards, basketball cards are king, are they not?

Also, compare our money to some rich eastern/Asian countries overseas. A million to us is quite a lot, obviously, but it's not as much to some of these other countries.

I think 1997 was the first year they made game used cards. So if that’s the first basketball game used card, signed by MJ, numbered to 23 I can see why it went that high. If you think that’s a lot wait until the next one sells.

yup.. that was the first yr Upper Deck came out with that gimmick. Apparently those few top bidders know this fact even it is not mentioned in the auction description of such "rarity". That tells me those bidders who compete for the card know what they are doing and not just by an "investment firm".

Seems like a lot of people complaining about these huge prices for modern cards...so what if it is only 10 years old and worth more than a card 100 years old. These people like to collect players that they have seen play and know. Not some person that died before their father was born. They don't know about the history of the sports and only care about now....you all need to really start worrying when they start getting educated and realizing the history and start buying the vintage up at crazy prices and making it harder for you to get what you want...Rob Groh the person that just bought the PSA 9 Mantle for 5.2M just started collecting 6 months ago. He started buying only modern basketball. He learned and is now purchasing the greats in Baseball...

You thought vintage was high now just wait until more of these new bloods start invading your area of collecting.
