Origin of early Mantle photo
1 Attachment(s)
Was wondering if anyone can enlighten me on the origin of this early Mantle photograph? Not mine, and not interested in the autograph or buying. Just wondered who the photographer was, where & when it was photographed, etc.. Apparently, prints of this photo were used a lot for Mantles signature? It's a beautiful photograph of Mickey, IMO. Feel free to point me to a link as I'm still searching. Thank you.

This is a classic shot from Photo File (1987-2020) As far as I know this is spring training 1951. There are also 2 or 3 other images shot on the same day.

Yankees trained in Phoenix in 1951 & I googled Raskins Credit Jewelers & they are still in AZ as well.

Thanks for the replies. I did see there were other photos taken that day. Anyone know who the photographer was? Maybe Ozzie Sweet? What does Photo File (1987-2020 mean? Is that a reference to one of the vintage sports photography books available these days? Thanks again for the replies!

Photo File is the name of the company that owned the rights to those images. Founded in 1987 and shut down in 2020.

All the prints of those images you find out there were produced by Photo File, with licensing from MLB.

The location is the original Phoenix Municipal Stadium, or "Phoenix Muny" as it was called. Got the info from my old pal Charlie Vascellaro who's the biggest expert I know on Cactus League history.
