RIP Hammerin Hank. What are your thoughts....
What are your thoughts on people rushing to ebay to list autographs after someone has passed?
All new listings: https://ebay.to/39ZWz6m |
I don't really think the demand boost makes sense (but then again, people aren't exactly logical). It's not like anyone buying just learned who Hank Aaron is today and got interested.
Trying to profit off someone's death may be good economics, but it hardly strikes me as particularly ethical. Players cards go up when they have been in the news recently for almost any reason, but it's the death spike listings that I find a little less than classy. |
irrelevant. The fans already have plenty; the tourists, ghouls and speculators are only going to get burned.

Curious to see. People can no longer triple their money by having a low grade RC signed.

Happens every time whenever a notable - like Aaron passes. Reminds me of cockroaches fleeing the light, profiteering ghouls suddenly appear in unison. Same crap happened with Kobe.

This is from my 'New Collectorisms' thread and is quite timely, sadly...
170. Nouveau Leech Someone who, after a famous player dies, immediately floods ebay with a million new, overpriced listings of his cards, trying to quickly turn a huge profit off of his unsuspecting fans’ grief. See also: Pump-Bump-Chump - a person who falls for this scheme. |
