Help identifying a Babe Ruth item

1 Attachment(s)
Hi -

I have what appears to be a Babe Ruth beanie. Does anyone have any knowledge about it? There's a tag inside that says "Official 'Babe Ruth' cap/Mfg. by Stadium Division/Beanie-Glo Co/Los Angeles, Calif./50% Wool, 50% Cotton"

Thank you
Ted

....anyone?

I want to say it is one of those Quaker promotional items from the 1930s. But the Beanie looks a bit different (in a good way) than what I recall seeing in the past. Condition looks great as well. Terrific vintage item you have there, and I bet eventually someone will identify it.

I will poke around a bit as well...

Pretty close, but no cigar....

Last post I'll make (promise!)

Here's a different Ruth Hat sold by Hunt Auctions back in 2006. Looks like a higher quality product, and note that it's the same manufacturer as yours... Beanie-Glo.

Perezfan - thanks for your help - that's similar to what I have....

I guess I'm mostly wondering what it might be worth.

Sorry I couldn't find a match. As far as what it's worth... Let's say a range of $125 - $500.

I know that's a bigger spread than you were probably hoping for, but these items (with few to no comparable examples) are usually all over the place. Just look at the price differential in Hunts, for the hat I just posted. Same exact hat, yet far different pricing....

Yours has better graphics, but Hunts' is in the form of a Baseball Cap instead of a Beanie. So lets call it a wash.

Edit: The results from Hunts' archaic website would not copy/paste properly. Such an annoying website. The first time, it sold for $500 and months later it sold for $125. There's your price range. If selling, I would list it at $349 and if anyone bites, would be very pleased with that price.

Mark - yes, it was. Thank you. Is this the sort of thing I should consign somewhere? It's not in my usual realm of collecting....

That would be a nice item to consign to Love of the Game Auctions. They are doing very well with this type of memorabilia. Just be aware that the opening bid is usually about 1/3 of the expected value. It's actually better to start low, in order to get multiple bidders involved. I would start this piece at $75 - $100.
