Topps, Bowman, Fleer. etc., let's what you have ...

Those are great. Love the '65.

ASF123 12-07-2020 10:05 AM

Very cool.

On a related note, has anyone come up with a good way to display cards in top loaders? I'm aware of the one specialty binder, but it's quite expensive.

Here's an unusual display box that I picked up not too long ago. It was described as a 1966 cello box. I have not been able to find any other examples while searching the internet and would be interested in any information regarding exactly what year it's from. I'm pretty sure it's not a '67 cello box as the examples I have seen of those held 48 packs and are a bit larger in size.

Hello Nomad. Your box is a 1964 . I’ve started collecting these since 1982 and seen very few of this one.

I've only ever seen one unopened pack of this series, never seen the box. Congrats, that is an especially nice example.

Great display David

GasHouseGang 12-10-2020 02:31 PM

Wonderful display David. You must have every Wiffle Ball box ever made.

OldSchoolBaseball 12-10-2020 02:54 PM

Nope. Still need a couple different ones and any display pieces/oddball items but enjoy that little Wiffle segment.

A generic Topps Trading Card Guild box like this is very rare but they do exist. The All-American header is likely the only one that exists. (oops - I have multiples). I believe it is an image of 1951 Heisman winner Dick Kazmaier. Topps would just stamp the sport that was enclosed on the side of the box. This says "FOOTBALL". I have seen the same TCG box that was stamped "RAILS AND SAILS", however, I have never seen one stamped "BASEBALL". Have you?

point of purchase display - ZEST

I also wanted to show an unusual point of sale display pack. Never seen another. Most people believe the set of 5 players (which isn't rare) was only available through mail away (it was as I've seen the cardboard display) but also must have been available in stores with 3 bar purchase - probably border states only. Shrink wrapped and nice shape. Thought I would share a pic...

ALR-bishop 12-11-2020 03:02 PM

David-- I have a set of those but was not aware they were marketed that way. Thanks for sharing. Great item

Those Kellogg boxes are nice and also hard to find

Love all the boxes everyone. I just got started collecting empty baseball boxes 1950-1970 and checking to see if anyone has any available. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays to all.

I started this thread shortly before the pandemic hit, and promptly forgot about. It's great to see that others here appreciate display boxes. Like everything else, the prices of boxes have skyrocketed in the last few years, and the inventory available seems much smaller. Here are a few boxes I've picked up.

jchcollins 08-07-2024 09:33 AM

Very cool. Always wanted to get into these, but they are so damn expensive anymore. I can’t even afford most of the wrappers I want, LOL.

I'm a bargain hunter, and one of the things I look for are boxes missing tops, and tops missing boxes. You can often pick them up cheap. It's much easier to find the bottoms than the tops. If I can find both, I display them together, like the 1958 Topps box above. It was way cheaper than finding a complete box. Right now, I'm searching for tops of 1956 Topps and 1964 Topps boxes.

By the way, has anyone ever noticed that Clay Dalrymple is batting on the 1963 box and catching on the 1964 box?

Here is my Plaks box, wrapper and sprue...this box is seldom seen.

I have a few hundred different boxes...a few dozen can be seen at the following link...still more can be seen in other albums on my facebook page.

Thanks. I have no doubt I could do some work and find some on the cheap, but unfortunately these things just don't fit into my collecting budget right now given my other priorities. Maybe one day! Very cool stuff everyone.

Chris---what year is the Football Plaks box ?

John--I don't collect boxes but know that the 68 baseball Plaks box is a very rare item. I have an unopened 69 Plak pack, the 2 checklists and for a long time felt I had the full set until the Mays ( which is on the checkilist but had not been seen) showed up, I think in a Mile High auction. Think Larry S has it. Have not seen another. There are two versions of the Mantle, big and small nose ( mine is small).

Although they exist on the 2 checklist cards, as far as I know Gary Peters, Frank Robinson, Hank Aaron and Don Drysdale do not exist in Plak form. Anyone know differently ?

I have lost track of how many sports card and memorabilia related boxes I have but would guess it's somewhere in the 400 to 500 box range...yes, I very likely have a box addiction.

This box may be the oddest one that I have ever saved...it is a very large box that contained just one pack of 5 cards (3 player cards, a card that could be redeemed for a free pack of Topps digital cards and a coupon card for savings on Topps products)...the cards were part of a 50 card set issued by Topps in 2016 and were distributed thru Walmart Marketplace...oh yeah, there was also a pizza included...I have the complete set...but no I didn't eat enough pizzas to complete the set.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e0a704bee9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4974a22fd6.jpg

I remember buying and chewing the gum that came with the 1973 Candy Lids. But I have to admit I didn't remember what the box looked like. Thanks for posting it.

Zach Wheat 08-13-2024 11:55 AM

Very impressive guys! I like all the displays

orioles70 08-13-2024 01:38 PM

Here is my 1970 Chemtoy Superballs box.

There were several different display boxes.
I have also seen a National League box and several team boxes. And I think there was a Major League box as well.

I have a few superball samples shown.
I also have the Orioles complete superball team set.

I took this shot at a county fair display this summer and posted it in a thread somewhere, but does anyone know what year it's from (to help with my peace of mind)?

Edited to add: the "EXTRA FEATURE" is deckle-edged, so it must be from one the pair(?) of years they included such cards...unless it's a stamp graphic?? (Uh oh...looks like I'm headed for a rabbit hole if I don't get an answer quickly!!!)

After looking at this thread and seeing some amazing boxes I went and picked up 2 from my first years of collecting. I remember going into Clio IGA and picking up some 1975 cards. Over the course of the summer I realized that some of my cards were smaller never aware that it was the mini version.
