Raw Sanella Ruth?
Would you guys consider buying a raw Sanella Babe Ruth, or are there a lot of known fakes out there?
|
Wouldn't bother me. Cards is oversized and on light stock, since it was intended to be pasted into a scrapbook. There are three versions based on the locations of words on the back, I believe.
But no, I'm not aware of them being mass counterfeited. You could easily buy them for under $100 a couple years ago. |
Thanks - the seller’s circumstances are a little sketchy. The “selling parts of a collection that was left to me” story in the description, not much feedback, no returns.
Five other items for sale - one other raw 59T Snider, two PSA tobacco cards, a BVG card, and Ruth Wheaties flip book in a “PRO” slab, whatever that is/was. |
Well, post a picture if it's online. More people can weigh in.

OK, but you have to promise not to jump in and bid it up if it's real :D. Any advice in the next...13 minutes would be much appreciated!

its real...no issues with that one.
|
Thanks! Bonus points for an estimation of the condition - looking on VCP, PSA seems to grade these with a random number generator. I assume the common problems are with the back of the card from where it was pasted in an album, but this one looks good.
|
Well, moot point. I bid, but not quite enough. Lost by five bucks. If anyone has one they’re looking to sell... :)

My best guess would be PSA AUTH because it's been pressed in a screwdown holder for years.
|
I think you did fine by NOT winning it for over $250. I know prices are going up, but you should be able to find something in the 3-4 range that's already graded for that price, which is likely a better grade than this one would get.

Necessarily, no. But likely. PSA is incompetent, so I wouldn't anything past them.
