Guess the PSA Grade! 1948 Leaf Paige new to hobby!
1 Attachment(s)
Winner will be the person who gets the PSA grade EXACT. Don't be afraid to guess that it might not even get graded, you can add qualifiers, or give me a straight grade guess. Plenty of combos. Maybe it gets a qualifier, maybe it does not get slabbed, maybe its a straight grade?
Winner will receive a mix of 4 autographed sports (could be any sport) index cards from my vast collection. My choice. You can still vote up until I post a pic of the card out of the PSA Box hopefully Wednesday afternoon! Rember, only 1 winner and it's the 1st that guesses so if you see it up on the list, guess somethig else! Ties go to the person who guessed only once and was the 1st one to get his or her Grade guess in! In other words, only 1 winner! Good luck! Thanks! Mike :) PS Small hints, the card has the eye appeal of a STRONG 8 minus the tape issue! Appears to have been pulled from a pack and taped in a book or something. You can still guess "fake or counterfeit" if you'd like. Since you can't measure the card from the photo I should say that it measured DEAD on to the correct specs for 1948-49 Leaf cards, Not bigger, Not a mm shorter on all sides. It also was with some other 1948 Leaf "taped" cards. PS 2 : Card is at PSA and I did not get a scan of the back! Ugh. I can tell you the back is CLEAN and about maybe 60/40 or even 70/30 off center but beautiful! Also, the small speck on the left side of card (middle) is in the top loader and is a speck of dust or something. I pulled it out before sending the card. PS 3: This card was an original owner card recently found. I had it next. The card is UNTOUCHED, UNTAMPERED, UNALTERED with FULL Borders. It could still have a quaifier I guess like ST or MK but it should not come back Altered. I believe they would assume the original "taper" did this non maliciously. I have sent well over a thousand cards to PSA over the years. I am confident (could be wrong but thinking I won't be) It is not altered. Very nice but not altered! Thanks! Mike |
Authentic but altered

Thank you!

I'm very bad at Guessing grades, I'm going to go with a 2, because of the tape.

6(ST) since my first guess was already taken.

Psa 1.

Did you submit it through PWCC? If so, I say it comes back without the tape residue, a micro-cut smaller and in a PSA 9 holder. Ha!
|
No.

Thanks! Mike |
Assuming you didn't request "no qualifier?"
Is it actual tape or just residue? |

I'll say 3.5 ST, assuming they ignore the "no qualifier" request.

Psa 3?
I found an old thread that discussed "tape stains" and it seemed the general consensus was that it was ultra rare and possibly unheard of to get a 3. Usually an Authentic 1 or higher depending on eye appeal. If they used qualifiers maybe it could go a bit higher? Not sure.
Thanks for all the guesses. Not sure if any grades are left but I'm sure there are some combos that have not been guessed! Good luck! Peace, Mike |

My guess is WHATEVER :) Before PSA sends it back to you, tell them to label the flip.....1949. Or else you will have a card that is mis-dated. These LEAF cards were issued in the Spring of 1949 (1st Series). Paige was in the 2nd Series which was issued in the Summer of 1949. I know this for a fact, since I collected these cards in my youth. But, you don't need to take my word for this....JUST READ PAIGE's BIO, it confirms what I am telling you. Good Luck. 1949 LEAF...... issued Summer of 1949 https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...afPaige25x.jpg . https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...fPaige25xb.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |

With the tape the highest is going to be a psa 2.

Mike The 2nd (or Short-Print) series (49 cards) was issued only in the Boston area, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and possibly the St Louis area. That is a "crazy rumor"....I never heard anything about any of these cards issued only in Canada. TED Z T206 Reference . |
Whenever I am lucky enough to be the second owner of an SP Leaf, it seems that they come from the upper midwest. I need to spend more time there...
My guess is also AA |
Thanks!

Hi Steve You don't have to travel any further than your greater Boston area. There has been several finds of 1949 LEAF SP cards in your area. TED Z T206 Reference . |
My guess is authentic, since you requested no qualifiers.
