OT Who's on First

Ok, maybe it's nostalgia setting in, or maybe it's the several beers I've had this evening, but I just got done watching the classic Abbott and Costello "Who's on First", and splitting my sides with laughter. I mean, I've seen this many many times, but it's just so simple and so classic. How many of you agree?

This has been part of my life since early childhood. I laugh every time. And I make my friends and family listen to it often.

It's a classic - simple yet unmatchable.

I always thought it would be cool if I opened a store on First Street in some town. And of course, called it "We're on First."

The best comic routine ever and delivered by the best comedy duo ever. In my opinion. Back in 1985 at my first fantasy baseball draft, we played the song Centerfield as our Leagues National Anthem followed by this routine. Every year since when my brother and I go to our drafts, we play both of these on the drive there. Every time it leaves me in stitches.
On a side note, I love the Abbott and Costello movies, especially Hold That Ghost and They meet Frankenstein.

Those movies were a staple on the weekends at my house. Ma and pa kettle was another. Laurel and hardy as well. And of course Godzilla. Those are my childhood.

Wow. . . the few times I've watched it in recent years I wondered what was considered so funny about it in the first place. Obviously its a routine that requires a great deal of talent to pull off. Absolutely no denying that. But funny? Eh . . . of course humor is subjective. I always liked the subtlety of Laurel & Hardy much more than A&C or even the Marx Brothers.

I do recall A&C had a classic routine about the Susquehana Hat Company that was similarly considered a comedy classic.

Yah agree with Steve, not hysterical, although the first time you hear this as a kid, it is pretty funny and amazingly creative/clever.
