Buying collections... how YOU got started?

In another post a couple of weeks ago, I asked how folks balance being collector and dealer, or not. Some REALLY great tips there.

Different but related question here - how did YOU get started buying collections? Or to be more specific, if starting today (COVID world, no physical shows for awhile more than likely), how would you recommend getting the word out that you are now able to buy full collections?

I think I may be interested in doing some larger scale buying but wanted to get some tips here first -

- how do you get the word out? 🤷
- tips on what/what not to do?💡
- would it be a reasonable to contact local dealers to ask if they’d refer sellers to me if they turn down a collection? Ie, does not meet their needs, etc)💬

Appreciate the insights, as always. 👍👍👍

Set up at card shows, the larger the better. Put out a sign that you are buying and what you are looking for i.e. baseball only or other sports too, vintage or modern too.
