Anyone know who the sig is between Carlos May and Duke Sims?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Tony |
Do you know who the group are that signed the ball? It looks like although May and Sims both played for the Yankees, their time with the team never overlapped. Is it just a Yankees alumni ball?

1/2 the guys are 1971 All Stars, 1/2 I don't see any similarities. 1971 All Stars Al Kaline, Dock Ellis, Bobby Bonds, Vida Blue, Wilbur Wood, Lee Maye, Felix Milan & Cookie Rojas. Also contains non '71 All Stars Willie Horton, Carlos May, George Mitterwald, Ed Spezio, Duke Sims + the one I asked about and one faded one next to Kaline.
Looking to sell if anyone is interested. |
I believe the one next to Kaline, reading from bottom to top, is Rusty Staub.

Wow, I din't expect anyone to figure that one out.
Thanks! |
I'm guessing that the ball was signed in 1971-72, probably in Detroit.
The 1971 AS Game was in Detroit, so all those players, including national leaguers like Millan, would have been there together. Duke Sims was with the Tigers in 1972-73. Willie Horton was a Tiger from 1963-1976. George Mitterwald was with the Twins from 1968-73. Carlos May was with the White Sox from 1968-76 Ed Spiezio was a career national leaguer, spending only 1972 in the AL with the White Sox. So the unknown signature would have possibly been a Tiger, White Sock or Twin, probably in 1972, if he wasn't a 1971 All-Star. Steve |
Possibly a really, really sloppy Chris Chambliss?
