Pre-1929 Type set collecton - What am I missing?
1 Attachment(s)
I'm putting together a pre-depression type set collection to show the breadth and development of card collecting. I have a real good start, but I'm wondering if there's anything I'm missing that should be added.
Keep in mind I'm not looking to break the bank so Ramly or other expensive common cards are out. What I have so far is 1887 Allen & GinterOld Judge Turkey Red Plenty of T206s T205 Hassan Triple Folder Mecca Double Folder Colgan Chip P2 pin 1906 Fan Craze 1915 Cracker Jack B18 Blanket Sporting Life 1921 Exhibit 1922 American Caramel Strip Card plus a 1910 era glove and an Old Judge actress card I'm thinking maybe an S74 silk and a Zeenut would work, but what else? |
A t210 would look like with the red border and would represent the other leagues really well. Maybe a few of them from different leagues.
Oh, and some caramels (other than the CJ) to showcase the candy cards of the era too. |
Look at oldcardboard.com for a good list. Prices are a little old, I think, but all the info you need.

I'd say some west coast stuff. Most affordably would probably be T212. Also, you might be surprised if you keep your eyes peeled for a T204 if they interest you. Deals come up with some lower grade ones with good eye appeal, priced about inline with some of your other purchases.

A C46 in addition to what the others have said.

Great type set...You need some more E Caramel Cards!
1909 American Caramel E-90-1 1909 Crofts Candy E-92 1911 Close Candy E-94 1914 Cracker Jack E-145-1 Good luck! |
Mark,
Nice start to your type set! The other posters have provided some good choices for you. You could also think about adding things like a T207 Brown background or some version of a M101-4 or -5 card. |
What about a S74 Silks or Murad to show the college game. I also think some of the late 1800’s H804 Trade Cards would be a cool addition. The baby cards are hilarious.
