Question about $1,500 in Face Value Silver
 

I have the chance to buy a large quantity of silver from a local estate.

(2) $250 bags of dimes
(1) $500 bag of quarters
(1) $500 bag of halves

This is all circulated silver. What kind of premium do I need to assign to these outside of the the spot price?

I have had quite a bit of luck paying spot for silver coins - less luck when buying gold.

I’m surprised you’re adding a premium tbh...imo circulated junk silver, unless there is something significant about it, is roughly worth melt when negotiating with someone other than dealers. My two lcs’ sell war nickels and 40%ers at under spot (I know they’re less desirable, but still)...not sure if that’s common or not, but paying above spot just doesn’t seem like a great idea...especially when buying in bulk.
I guess at most I’d pay a very small amount above melt, but tbh doesn’t seem like the way to go unless you think you’ll be able to make a profit sometime very soon.
