John Lennon inspired by Lou Gehrig TV movie
 

Here’s an interesting connection between the Beatles and vintage baseball. It’s been known for years that John Lennon’s song “Grow Old With Me” was inspired by a movie about baseball that he saw on TV while on vacation in Bermuda in the summer of 1980. However, nobody has been able to figure out which baseball movie it was. This guy looked through TV guides from that period and figured out that Lennon must have seen “A Love Affair: The Eleanor and Lou Gehrig Story”, a made for TV movie from 1978 starring Blythe Danner and Edward Hermann.
