Absurd jerk of an ebay seller who I must call out: "daunb"
This guy has a raw 1971 Topps Thurman Munson which he describes as NM/MT.
I simply asked "Hey there, could you describe any flaws that stick out to you?". He responded "no. get a ruler and measure it if you think there is a problem". What the literal F !? I was in no way implying the card was trimmed. How would he even take that in that way!?! Dumbfounded. I replied "Wow, you're a tool. Good luck selling your card." I couldn't help myself. |
Couldn't you have posted this in the right place?
This is the Pre-War section. I couldn't help myself. :D |

Well, this isn't really about the card, but the seller. Though he doesn't have any pre-war for sale at the moment, sooo..
|
condition
if your concerned about condition, why not buy a graded card?
|
Oh geezus.

Hope the rest of your day goes really well Lucio :)

Well, at least he's confident in the grade lol

Sounds like a guilty conscience. You ask a general question and he flies off the handle about something specific that wasn't even mentioned.

Maybe it is a seller tired of all the tire kickers asking silly questions that never buy anything. I know when I get certain questions I automatically figure it is going to be a problem buyer and never respond. |

The guy says it's NM-MT. He's already telling you that, in his opinion, it's flawless. How do you expect him to elaborate on that? |
Listing
Checking the listings there are a couple cards posted as trimmed.
My guess if the card might grade better than a 6 the seller would probably submit for grading. |
I mean sometimes a question is just a question. How many sellers do we see on Ebay list stuff as NM or better, that just one look tells you it's not even close?
Then we see a scan that might look NM, but we all know scanners and digital photos don't always catch flaws in cards and memorabilia, no matter how hard you try to take the perfect picture. I understand frustrating questions. I get them all the time for things that can simply be answered by actually reading the description. I also have one guy who bids on boxing programs regularly from me. Almost always he contacts me ahead of time to ask condition questions, and if I might have missed something in the description.......whether I have it listed as NM or Poor, or have a ton of photos showing the program in detail. I assume, he's probably been burned before, just like most of us have at one time or another. I dig the program out, look at it again, answer as best as I can, and move on. More often then not he bids, and if he wins he pays, and I've never heard a complaint from him after the transaction is done and he's received his package. Normally just a positive feedback with a compliment attached. |

The ones I had to wait a couple hours to reply to were things like Description - "shipping is $2 in the US, international at cost" Question - "How much id shipping to Idaho" (or any other state) My descriptions were usually brief, what? Too lazy to read an extra sentence? After waiting a while I could come up with a polite answer. :D |

I'm not in the "customer is always right " camp. But the customer always has the right to be heard and have any issues addressed politely ang promptly. I rarely stated a return policy, simply because I feel that once there's a policy I've written I need to hold myself to that. Most of the people who had a problem were surprised at the solutions. Most were well outside any policy I could write. Like I had a batch of BMX helmets I got from an out of business wholesaler. One turned out to have cracks under the rubber molding around the edge. Totally my bad for missing it. I just had the guy send me a quick pic of the damage, checked the other ones I had and sent him a replacement. No need to return the other one, as it wasn't usable or saleable. He asked what I wanted him to do with it and I suggested having a local graffitti guy or someone paint it up and make it into a lamp. He thought that was a cool idea, I said to just send me a pic when it was done, but he never did. Oh well, probably lost track of the email. |

Some of my favorite small hassles are. Giving the buyer a PP FF price and telling them you want PP FF and they still send regular PP and don't cover the fee. People that ask a ton of questions over a long time on several cards while trying to low ball you and then never buy anything. Trying to buy a few hundred dollars worth of product from a seller and almost having to beg to actually purchase the product. Rant over.;):D |
