E92 - bc of all he back variations. I especially like the Crofts Cocoa bc of the info on the back
|
Awesome cards! It's great to see the back variations in that set.

My favorite is the E95 because I think it is Honus Wagner's best looking card.

I agree that e92 is awesome in its back types...7 diff back types?? So to be different I nominate e94. Each front is available with one of seven possible colors...lime green, dk green, red, violet, gold, blue, orange. Additionally there are all of the different bag stamps out there... And a minor variation of quotations versus missing quotations on the back which no one really pays any attention too.
E94 folks! |
Dj...oink oink!!

e107 by a landslide for me. Such a unique set, all alone in 1903 between the t and e card sets of 1909 and Old Judge/Mayos on the 1800s.

My favorite is the E222 A.W.H. Caramels set because, (1) these cards are super scarce, and (2) the players are Virginia Leaguers (I was born and have lived all of my76+ years in VA). This very small, 12-card set is most interesting (to me, anyway) in that the fronts and backs come in different color combinations and there are 6 different back designs (5 diff. are shown below). Also, cards have been found with A.W.A. Caramels advertising - this is believed to be a printing error. I have 9 of the players in this set - I'm missing Lipe, Revelle & Ryan - I will trade my first born for any of these 3!

I hadn’t seen the E222 before. Neat to see. Does your first born know of your plans if a Lipe surfaces? :)

My favorite caramel set is a tie between E93 and E98. The only thing I don't like about E98 is the "Cy" Irv Young card. But it has my favorite Matty pose and a great Connie Mack example.
My favorite E-card is the E-Unc Blue Caption Honus Wagner pictured below. There is just something about this card that I love. The set only has four known subjects to date and is very obscure so I wouldn't say the set is a favorite of mine, just this card is a favorite. ETA: Not my card, should've said that in the first place. My bad to current owner of this card. :o . |

Have you ever seen one of the A.W.A backs in the wild that Is reported? I share your love of Virginia and this is an awesome piece of history! |
|
Not sure I can pinpoint the reason, but to me E94s look much better than the others.

I have several favorites in the E classification: 1914 and 1925 Zeenut sets, 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jacks (favorites of the E sets I haven't collected many from), E93, E95, E98 and E102, E220 National Caramel, and my favorite mis-categorized E set - W503.
Today I will stick with the E220 National Caramel...some great photos, many not seen in other sets, and quality control out the window for the bargain hunter I am. Here are a few that made their way to my scanner over the years. Brian |

E Set
I've always liked the 1910 E-103 Williams Caramel set. Carl Horner images are wonderful.

Why excluding the E90? I have never heard anyone say e90 is their favorite...I'd be curious...no CJ's in the thread (sorry for the other cards)???

I had never seen one of the A.W.A backs, so thank you for the link. I was asking if you had ever seen one in person. Sorry for the confusion. |
I am a sucker for the E-98s. The red backgrounds feel like the predecessor to the Cracker Jacks, and then the Black Swamp Find added intrigue and condition rarity for the age. They're just interesting to me.

E145-1 (1914 Cracker Jacks), not even close! Fun set to attempt to assemble and packed with Dead Ball Era Stars (Cobb, Johnson, Mathewson, Wagner, LaJoie, Speaker etc...) and "commons" such as Buck Herzog aren't so common
