1933 Ruth authentic?

1 Attachment(s)
Hoping for a little help. Looking for an opinion on this 1933 Goudey/World Wide Gum Ruth.

It is obviously trimmed, but it also skinned. Is there anyway to decide on authenticity and/or which variety it is?

Furthermore, if authentic, would PSA or SGC encapsulate it?

Thank you for your help!

The front looks good to me from that one pic. A pic of the back would help.

Encapsulation

I think SGC would be more apt to slab this than PSA. I have sent a couple of high value cards that were "less than complete" into PSA and because of the their standard sizes, they have refused to encapsulate them, saying that they couldn't ensure the safety of the card, as it would move around (card doesn't meet minimum size). I thought that was funny, since the cards were trimmed, sliced and diced, what other damage could befall it, but I get it. SGC cuts their black 'frames' to spec it appears.

If authentic, I assume Beckett would holder it.

Can you post some more pics? Back included. Leaning towards authentic. Why slab it?

Waiting on more images

Currently, I'm waiting on more images at the moment. I have bought it with an assurance that if not authentic my money will be refunded.

Unfortunately, it's still on its way... Was just trying to get a head start on authenticating it.

If that's fake it's SCARY good.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Looks pretty solid.

Agreed, looks genuine. Looking at a skinned back is not going to help my decision, so going with what the front tells me, lol.

Here are some images I was just sent.

He also included a black light image.

From the small pics, I don't see a problem.

If you have other Goudeys to compare to when you get it, compare the front texture/gloss.

When you get it, post a big scan of it.

As Goudeys were often glued into albums,I imagine there quite a few skinned examples.

I have had some good luck with black lights in the past and also some not good luck (still not knowing). From the scans nothing jumps out that screams fake. There are some good ones out there though. Good luck and keep us updated about it.

Quick update

Had contacted SGC. I was told they would holder it if deemed an authentic card. After paying the expedited fee, I logged on to see my status on their website.

Website stated "Cannot/Will Not Grade".

So, I emailed asking why they could not holder it and I was given the answer "our graders grade a thousand cards a day and do not keep notes as to why cards get the determination that they do."

So, basically I paid SGC to tell me if it is an authentic Ruth and they could not and they couldn't tell me why they couldn't make a determination.

The only silver lining is that I was refunded the fee, but still out shipping both ways.

Anyone had luck with Beckett on a card like this?
