Very much a novice at this, but I don't like it. The b-e combo in Babe looks particularly suspect to me.
|
The second "b" in Babe should always be the largest letter in the signature.
The first "B" finishing stroke, doesn't look quite right. The "e" in Babe does not look like a normal e. The finishing pen strokes for the "h" in Ruth, should have heavy pen pressure and sometimes forms an ink ball. The quotes are around "Bab" not around "Babe" - not consistent with other signatures The card is a 1928 exhibit, Ruth basically stopped using quotes before this time on his signature. The length of the crossing in the "t" is exceedingly long, should end near the finish of the "h" |
Nothing about this one feels good

Wonderful tutorial Jim, thx!!!!! everyone else too

Shame. That looks like a pretty nice exhibit otherwise.

common secretarial
|
It’s not really a ‘common secretarial’ but 100% not real. Sorry!
|
Actually it is a common secretarial, the same variation seen on virtually all of the circa 1927-28 Yankees team balls that have clubhouse Ruth's. It varies a bit from each example, especially in the "R", but all done in the same hand - this one...https://us-east-1.linodeobjects.com/...baseball-3.jpg
