FS - 1971 Topps Winner cards (group of 14)

Anybody have any interest in these?
A friend recently brought my attention to this : http://collectauctions.net/LotDetail...entoryid=30268 $35k+?! which equates to $1,872 per card. Yikes! Wow, so mine are now available. Obviously my group is worth considerably less. Or are they? Hahaha. That one was 19 cards, my group is 14. The 14 that I am making available are : Mark D. Audia Lisa C. Bole Allan G. Csuk Jr. Theresa D. Faulkner Vernon Grover Tim J. Harlan Jeff Hooper Darren K. Lazzari Jeffrey M. Mihalik Jerry R. Nachtrieb Rickey E. Nobile Brucette C. Rumenyak Fred A. Sinopoli Christine Ulicny They paid the people who sell opinions, I have no interest in doing that (although I believe that one could argue that some of mine are nicer than some of theirs), but you of course are welcome to, if that's your preference. So, what do I want for mine? First let's say for sake of conversation that half the value in the auctioned set might have been in the 5 cards that I don't have. Then let's say that mine are only worth half of theirs due to the opinion sellers never having seen mine (which is a stupid premise, but since some of you buy plastic slabs instead of cards, it's a possibility), and finally, let's say that the number you are left with ($8,895) still seems insane to me, so let's subtract another 20% and say that I can't in in good conscience accept more than $7,113 for my group. Unless you twist my arm. Insert smiley face here. Make me offers. I would prefer to sell the entire group, but am not necessarily opposed to splitting them up. Doug |
I've been collecting for forty years and had no idea these even existed. Thanks for sharing.

Shame that PSA won’t grade or recognize them As Topps cards

If someone wants to first fill the embarrassingly large hole in my wallet, sure, I'm game.

Maybe you should see if the winners want to buy them. I did minimal research on the kid with what I thought was the most distinctive name and it looks like you could track them down pretty easily:

Sinopoli passed away a few years back. I only have one graded one and sent everything (checklist, uncut sheet photo, front back images and articles) to PSA for grading opportunities but they passed??
|
I have never seen these before.
Wow. |
I didn't realize PSA would not grade these but it's ridiculous. The set is heavily documented at this point. Still those Beckett slabs didn't seem to hurt price.

Sold a bunch of these individually a few years back and thought I killed it averaging about $600 apiece. Was my first Auction.

Doug, I would encourage breaking the group and auctioning individual cards personally. These come up using only a once or twice yearly so value is hard. I think most of the folks I know like myself that would be interested are looking for the cards they are missing. If you put these on eBay or in an auction please let us know! |
