Easily one of Doyle's best photos, from his MVP year. Wiltse is a bonus! $285 Size is 4-5/8" x 6-3/4" Condition: Minor edge wear. Reverse has some light surface paper loss around what's left of the original Brown Bros. stamp (Culver Pictures or Sy Seidman tried to obliterate the stamp). https://i.ibb.co/Tc7zrtt/Doyle-sm-n.jpg https://i.ibb.co/bNY0zDh/Doyle-rev-sm-n.jpg https://i.ibb.co/3sPD9Y3/Doyle-det-sm-n.jpg --------------- 3) John Knight (NY Highlanders) and Donie Bush (Detroit Tigers), 1910. Should be a Type 1, but not 100% sure. Interesting photo. Knight and Bush were likely photographed together as Knight was the tallest player in the league and Bush was the shortest. Note "Filed before 1919" stamp on reverse. $165 Size is approximately 8" x 8-1/2" Condition: Slight waviness at edges. Blacks in print are heavily silvered. This photo looks much better in hand than it does scanned. https://i.ibb.co/HnGqkZB/Knight-Bush-sm-n.jpg https://i.ibb.co/cvPg2Jm/Knight-Bush-rev-sm-n.jpg -------------------------- 4) Mike Donlin and Johnny Evers, 1919. Type 1, Bain Photo. Photo taken at the Polo Grounds in April of 1919 for an Actor's Fund Benefit game. Donlin was leading a team and Evers was an umpire. $165 Size: 4" x 5-3/4" (likely slight trim at bottom) Condition: Small areas of black editorial paint on the dark areas around the collar of Donlin's sweater, and up in the dark area at the top of the photo. Otherwise, just a couple of light wrinkles. https://i.ibb.co/tcMQr8t/Donlin-Evers-sm-n.jpg https://i.ibb.co/pKX2xxS/Donlin-Evers-rev-sm-n.jpg ------------------------ 5) Dave Robertson (NY Giants), c 1917. Type 1, Paul Thompson photo. Great photo, with Baseball Magazine / Christie's sale sticker on reverse. $155 Size is 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" Condition: Bite out of the lower left border, otherwise good. https://i.ibb.co/RcDcST6/Robertson-sm-n.jpg https://i.ibb.co/DwVNgF1/Robertson-rev-sm-n.jpg -------------------- 7) Cozy Dolan (NY Giants), 1924. Type 1, United Newspictures stamp. With caption related to Dolan's involvement in the baseball scandal of 1924! Photo also used for Dolan's 1923 Maple Crispette card. $85 Size is 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" Condition: Minor waviness, otherwise good. https://i.ibb.co/898MvYw/Dolan-sm-n.jpg https://i.ibb.co/sRhBgp1/Dolan-rev-sm-n.jpg ------------------- 8) Leon "Red" Ames (NY Giants), 1904-1905 image, but the print is 1909-1914. Type 2 or 3 designation. The International News Service stamp is 100% pre-1915. Great photo, unusual action close-up, and a nice shot of Ames' tiny mitt. SOLD Size is 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" Condition: General edge wear. Couple of bends at corners, and a chip at the bottom left edge. https://i.ibb.co/48WDHcK/Ames-sm-n.jpg https://i.ibb.co/YZzFYPJ/Ames-rev-sm-n.jpg |
