Is this Babe Ruth photo a Type 1?
 

Hi, I'm not so familiar with Type 1 photos. Is anyone able to tell me if this Ruth photo is a Type 1? Thanks!

If that is not an original signature the answer is no. It would be a second generation photo. It is a nice silver gelatin print and appears to be on doubleweight paper.

Yes it’s an original signature. If it’s signed it can’t be a type 1? I once had a signed Gehrig that was a type 1. Thanks

What does PSA say it is, or did just certifty the sig?

It would have been helpful if this had been mentioned in the beginning. It does significantly impact the conversation.

Weird that you had them certify the signature but not the photo . . . .

I still not convinced Ruth signed this. If he did, it was super late in life. Like 1948.

The photo is definitely vintage/period (you can see the silvering), but I don't know that it was made from the origal negative. None the less, either way it's a great and valuable photo.
