Plaks checklists

I recently purchased a collection with the #1 and #2 Plaks (Topps 1968) test issue checklists! Checking with PSA I discover that approximately 60 of the approximately 70 checklists submitted have been given "authentic" rather than number grades!??? Why have so few been awarded number grades? Anyone know?

The Checklists often have a slight production curl to them that makes holdering difficult or makes the grader uneasy. It's noticeable at the top usually, as it will look to curl off in one direction. I bought one (NL) at the 2003 National and SGC was offering on-site same-day slabbing. I went back to pick it up at the end of the day and the rep showed me why the curl prevented proper holdering as they cut the inserts at the show and it wouldn't fit. I just checked the SGC pop report (FWIW) and the ratio of A to # looks pretty similar. I'd imagine they figured out how to cut the inserts since then if they get A grades.

PSA seems like they have the same problem with the majority of them.

Nice pick up though Larrie. I have a set of the Plaks ( minus Larry's Mays) and unless you have the Plak and it's proper base it is virtually impossible to know which player is depicted. The checklists were well done and are hard to come by in any condition
