Pretty sure this has been on ebay for a decade. Still cool to see.

Yep, been on eBay for years and years. Super rare, but I can't get into that funky diamond cut, but clearly it is a big money card.

The fact that it remains in a GAI flip (and for sale for at least 4 years) indicates to me that it is an A in any other flip, and my guess is that this card could not make it into a PSA or SGC without being an A.

Wow - 1st time seeing it for me - bet I've looked at it a dozen or more different times today.

As for grade - Im not an expert but I don't see what looks evidence of trim (normally the corner points start to look like little tits (for want of a better word) on trims that I have looked at closely. So if not trim then what might be issue - I'm guessing its obviously real - yes?

Ha ha!!

I've heard them referred to as "dog ear" too.

Frankly, I don't see any indications of alteration either. But think about it, why would anyone seeking to sell a card like this keep it in a GAI flip? This card in a PSA or SGC flip, even if downgraded to a 4, sells quickly and for a lot of money. But in a GAI flip, it just sits bc everyone wonders why is it still in that flip -- whats wrong with it? I have to believe that if the owner really wanted to sell this, he would have tried to cross it, and because it remains in a GAI flip, he was unsuccessful.

Heritage Auction House has a Cobb Uzit about to go up for auction. It’s PSA graded..

Agreed! I wonder if the seller has tried to cross.

They used to set up at Robert Morris shows years ago (1990's?) when I was doing them too. Had mostly very high grade stuff. They know their business well - One possible alternative reason than the one already mentioned is the Copeland collection pedigree - does anyone know if PSA or SGC would cross that with the pedigree?

I doubt it's altered after giving it a look. My best guess is there's a "fatal" imperfection that wasn't picked up during GAI's grading process. It's probably known and was either a previous crossover attempt, or one that was obvious enough to avoid trying. The thumb sized dark spot on the back (very top) could be one such issue. Hard to tell if it's staining or more. There could be a bit of paper loss somewhere too.
