OT: eBay Has Done It Again. More Undocumented Changes.

I have been selling on eBay for 15 years. Every time I ship an item, I include a packing slip that includes the items won plus a small customized paragraph thanking them for their business, etc, etc.

Today, I went to print a packing slip and eBay has removed the customized template that I have used for 15 years. They now force you to choose a statement from a drop down list. Now the seller is not allowed to include any text of their own.

One other thing they did in the last week. In the past whenever an item was sold, you would receive an email that lists the item sold, what it sold for and the eMail address of the winner. Now, they no longer include the Buyer's eMail address. I have always depended on their eMail address to correspond with my buyers for whatever reason I needed to.

Why do they make it so difficult to run a business? How much more can a Seller take?

Seems like they're taking additional steps to discourage communications that could lead to sales off-site.

eBay

Yesterday evening, I received a message from eBay telling me that I had 228 items that needed updates to the item specifics. Some of these items have been listed for a couple of years as BIN's. Why were they OK for a year or two but now they need to be updated?

What I don't understand, is that everything that you need to know is already in the title. Why do I have to also put it in the item specifics? Many of the items were checklists, and I was asked for a specific player and a specific team. Really? So, I entered NA for the player and NA for the team.

I spent over 2 hours last night updating the 228 items, which was a complete waste of time, and I doubt that it will result in any more eyes on my items.

eBay sales have been really great for the past couple of months, and overall, eBay works fine, but there sure are a lot of little glitches to deal with.

When shipping, you can still drop a note or business card along with the item. They can discourage all they want. If there is a will, there is a way.

Rick, I have been receiving those eMails also. We went thru the same exercise several months ago. I remember spending days updating the item specifics. I thought I covered all the required item specifics. Now they wanted me to note whether is was an Original or Reprint.
I pretty much do the same thing in situations where there are multiple players on a card. For Team & Player, I just say Various.

It’s ridiculous! And there is no way to protest the change or discuss it because of their crappy automated support.

For the item specifics, I just update them in bulk using original for the original/reprint field, and not available for everything else. Inkfrog is still pulling emails for me, as of this morning.

Buyer's email addresses are still available (for up to two weeks) from your awaiting shipment screen, just click on the order number under the "order details" header.

You can easily obtain all of your buyer's email addresses from the past 90 days by requesting the "paid and shipped" report via file exchange.

I get the frustration from the extra steps.

I am also able to get this info from Sixbit which I use to list my items. As you said, its just the frustration of having to do the extra steps.

Hi Justin, I have done that in the past, but I couldn't do that with the items from last night. No matter what I tried, I could only do one at a time.

Thanks, Rick

Looks like eBay is at it again. Real buyer email addresses have been replaced with eBay generated email addresses like 0371fa79e69494e4f374@members.ebay.com. In addition, it looks like buyer email addresses have been wiped from the sales download report file. I feel much safer. Thank you eBay!

On my end, as of a few minutes ago, the buyer's actual email addresses are still showing up on both the downloadable shipping reports and the order detail screen. The buyer's addresses will probably be gone by tomorrow though.

Interesting Robert. Are you using eBay managed payments? I am and suspect that could be the difference.

No, I'm not enrolled in eBay managed payments.
