YALE Baseball Glove?

Has anyone ever heard of the YALE company. Guessing they were in business during the late 40’s into 50’s and maybe beyond. I have a baseball glove with a Mickey Mantle facsimile auto in the palm. Style and look appear to be from the early half of the 1950’s. Any info would be great. Have done several searches and can’t find anything of YALE baseball gloves.

Hi-

I have had a few from the the 1920s era. I believe they were a relatively cheap maker as the gloves I have owned in the past were made of somewhat cheap material. I have not seen one from Mantle's era before. The ones I owned from the 1920s never sold for much. Please post a picture if you can.

1950s style for sure, signature marking looks decent - also has age wear (expected) - can your hand fit in the pocket without being tight? It was most likely made in the Northeast (New England) as the model originated in New Haven Conn. under a different company name "Yale" was just the model or issue - the model number should help your search on the palm as well.

Jimmy,

Hand will fit but it is snug. I would guess it is for an adult and not a child, although kids nowadays are using 10.5"- 12" gloves. I got this glove in the mid-1980's from my grandfather's basement it was under the leg of his wine barrel holder acting as a shim to keep things level. I have done a ton of searching and I can't find anything. I don;t know if it was actually sold or a prototype of some sort, I have never seen another. My father as no recollection of every using it as a kid and he was born in 1952.
