RIP Biff Pocoroba
Only an average player on some really bad Braves teams, but somehow he became a favorite of mine and many other hard-core Braves fans.
Rest in Peace Biff. . |
Biff
One of the best names in the history of sports--would have been great as a boxer
|
When the guys that were on cards in packs that you opened as a kid start dying then you know you are getting old :(.

If that's not a name for the ages, I don't know what is. Sorta like Spook Jacobs. If he played for the pathetic Padres, no doubt Jerry Coleman would have named him, "the Biffer." :D
|
Spook was a tough one to find for the 56 Topps Hocus Focus set :)
|
RIP Biff, even sadder is that he is like the 10th player from the 82 pennant winning Braves team to pass away
|
One from the “all name team” as my friends and I used to call it. But hate to correct you Larry, the Braves did not win the 82 pennant!

Wow, I can't believe that many players have passed from the 82 team...seems like alot. Not a Biff story, but from his last year 1984, My wife and I are sitting in a local San Diego Mexican restaurant and I look over and see Rick Mahler and Jerry Royster having lunch before a night game and they were sucking down the margaritas like they were going out of style. To say they were getting hammered was an understatement. I told my wife that Mahler was not starting that night and Royster was a bench player, so they probably knew they weren't getting in the game. Wrong, Mahler came into the game in relief and Royster pinch-hit. A different time.

Add Claudell Washington and now it's eleven '82 Braves gone.
It has been 38 years... . |
