PSA question

I have about 110 pre-war cards I'd like to submit to PSA for grading. My question is do you think the turnaround time would be quicker submitting under the 1959 and earlier quarterly special or the regular bulk submission? I know they'll both be several months, but do you think one would be any quicker than the other?

I wouldn't mind SGC, but I think they've become just as slow as PSA.

I would submit under the quarterly special. It is cheaper, and the turnaround time is probably identical. Good luck.

I’d go SGC. They’re a bit delayed, but nowhere near the delay of PSA. Plus for pre-war/vintage, I’d say it’s the preferred grader by many.

Got a recent SGC 20 day sub back in 20 days. I have 2 PSA subs going on 5 and 6 months that still aren’t done.

So this is only my N of One, for what it's worth. Multiple submissions to PSA in the same package, documented received on 11/27/19.
The Bulk order (127 cards) popped 04/09/20 and the Monthly Special (38 Prewar cards) popped 04/15/20.

It's data at least, whatever it means... :D

I personally prefer SGC much more than PSA for anything pre-1933.

PSA uses that mylar layer at their discretion which i think displays “not so well.” And for T206s they seem to use it a lot. I even offered to pay them to remove the mylar from my cards and they said no. So that was cool.

SGC has great customer service but i think they should stop changing their presentations/flips so often. I like the SGC flips with the smaller numbers much more.

Neither company is perfect, but i find dealing with SGC to be actually consistently enjoyable, and dealing with PSA to be consistently aggravating.

I have to agree with Mailbox, SGC easier to deal with, and most customers, clients, collectors prefer it to PSA for pre war cards. Just my two cents

They don't get the money PSA does unfortunately. I wish they did.

Thanks all. I think I'm going to go with SGC. The cards are T206 cards for a set I'm building and I have no intention of flipping or selling anytime soon.

Remember wait times are long for all grading companies right now – I have been waiting almost three months for SGC on a 20-day service. Emailed SGC twice already with no response. Safety comes first and it’s just cards – so I wait. I also gave up sending to PSA at this time, even before Jan. of this year due to wait times. Anyways good luck with your order!

Jimmy
