This card has been on EBay forever! Show Stale Ebay Listings
1 Attachment(s)
I got back into collecting in late 2015. I am not sure when I first started following this card on ebay, but it has to be around 4 years ago. The asking price has not changed since I first started following it 4+/- years ago. And it still here, month after month, year after year. Listings like this are why ebay is no longer a viable source of acquisitions for me - cards that are priced to high, with “sellers” who apparently are not looking to sell.
I believe a “seller” can list his/her card for whatever they want and can hold out for whatever price they are seeking. But, it’s annoying to me that ebay allows these stale listings to continue for years, without change. Oh well, there is nothing I can do; but I can start a thread asking people to post stale Ebay listings. So let’s see your favorite (or least favorite) stale Ebay listing, and please note how old it is (it’s up to you whether you out the “seller”; I have chosen not to) |
I agree with you. Here's another current example. There is a T206 seller on Ebay right now: JLS Cards out of Alaska, who has taken over the listings with his out of control prices. He'll win cards in PWCC's auctions & then list them for 5x what he paid for them. He seemingly has no clue on moving his cards. Like he's just proud of showcasing them. It's beyond annoying.

This D304 Cobb feels like it's been up for a long time. Many months for sure. Perhaps a year or more.

Here is a listing that’s been on eBay, at same (stupid high) price, for what seems forever: |

This "Ed Delahanty" cabinet has been listed and re-listed for over a year now. Can't for the life of me figure out why no one has snapped this gem up yet.

I don't do cards, but watch for signed contracts, and these two pop up in my inbox weekly, for at least a year now. Same price the whole time.

There's no way that Cobb Uzit would still be in a GAI holder if it wasn't altered in some way or another.

I agree that there are many cards that continue to be listed without adjusting the price. I'm guilty myself. But lately some of the cards I've had listed for over a year, are suddenly selling. And this is without adjusting the prices or accepting best offers. I'm thinking that maybe values have caught up to my asking prices or new collectors with new projects have entered the hobby. But I do try to list my cards at around the highest successful sale price or a few dollars below what others have the same card listed for. I usually don't have anything listed that is difficult to find a market price for. I also totally understand more difficult T206 back combinations being way over priced. Mainly because some of the prices that these cards are selling for in the different auction houses. I don't like the crazy high prices and wish the prices were what they were at 15 years ago. I'm always kicking myself for not buying more at that time. Now it's just difficult to justify some of these prices and my T206 goal is much further out of reach. Thinking back when I was adding 20 to 30 cards a month to my set, and now I'm lucky if I add one or two a month. And that only happens if I find a monster bargain on a difficult combo.

This has been on my watch list for years. Not sure how much it's worth, but since nobody's bought it in seemingly forever...

This card. I've tried to buy it. I'm now blocked by the seller. I still want to buy it, but this guy would rather sit on it than send it to someone that would truly appreciate it. Am I using this thread for my bi-annual hate post for yepbg? Yes. No shame.

Yepbg has had this card, which I'd like to have for my 1924 Senators collection, on eBay for the past few years. It's a $200-250 card at best. I offered to trade yepbg an Al Demaree card of a HOFer in comparable condition, but he wasn't interested.

Had a nice response typed out covering a number of thoughts on this type of seller/listing, then reread your comment. I either misread or just assumed you had 2 of the 3 and wanted this one as well.

Maybe they are in no hurry to sell anything and will wait forever to get their price. 6 items sold in the history. That is certainly not aggressive pricing.
