Almost Great in 1908: The NY Giants Come in Second
Hey All!
Here is an article for you to pass some time in this new and unusual off season of baseball. Some fun history in here and includes some T206's for the T206 lovers out there! http://almostgreatales.wordpress.com...s-come-in-2nd/ Enjoy! |
Thanks for sharing!

I enjoyed reading it. I think Bresnahan was a Hotel Detective, like from a Raymond Chandler novel. Great photo of Merkle in his tackle shop.

Awesome reading and thanks for posting!! Here is a trifold PC featuring the 1 game playoff between the Cubs and the heavily favored Giants.

There's been a whole book written about the pennant race between the Cubs and Giants in 1908 that covers much more than the article does. It's called "Crazy '08" by Cait Murphy. Just got done reading it for the second time. It's a good read if you have time.

Happy to share! Glad you all are enjoying it!
That postcard is really a great find, it is neat to see how, after so many years later we can still piece together the games and history with postcards (a great find and addition to your collection!) and facts like that of Bresnahan being a hotel detective, security guard type, who would have known! I also second the recommendation for Crazy '08, a great read! |
That was a thoroughly enjoyable article! For us T206 collectors, it's great to see these cards come alive with pictures & stories of the players.
|
Happy you enjoyed! I hope to share some more soon, with more T206 players to come! The set is the most fun when the players can come back to life.

Thanks for the article. I read the book "Crazy '08" shortly after reading "The Glory Of Their Times." This article is another great narrative of the fascinating deadball era! Well Done.
