Best Ted Williams?
 

Hey all, looking for advice on best Ted Williams to pick up? I’m a modern collector but have wanted to pick up a nice Ted for a while. I’m guessing my budget will be somewhere around $2k.

Leaning towards the Wilson Franks at the moment but wondering what else is out there? Is SGC better than PSA? I know of all the trimming scandals w PSA vintage, so wondering is SGC is safer?

Wilson Franks is very nice. I also really like there 1954 B and you may just want to go ahead and make a play for a decent 1939 Play Ball rookie, though that one took a big jump a couple of years ago.

I nice Fleer life of Ted Williams set with a graded 68 is a good option.

A nice SGC 3 1939 Play Ball Rookie or as mentioned you could get a very nice 1959 Fleer Ted Williams 80 card complete set.

I agree with Todd....the 1954 BOWMAN is the best value for the $$$$ you want put into it. This card will never lose it's value. Simply
because the "law of supply vs. demand" applies here. The availability of this card is quite low, since BOWMAN was forced (by TOPPS)
to cease issuing it in 1954.

For visual appeal, the Wilson's Williams can't be beat in my book.

For $2000 you may not find a visually appealing Wilson. I’d go with one of his classic 54-55-56 Topps cards. Can’t beat the way they look.

For overall eye appeal, I don't think you can beat the '55 Topps. Like someone said above, the '54 Bowman may be the best investment because of the limited supply, but it does not hold a candle to the '55T as far as visual appeal.

not rare..but the 1969 Topps card..his return to baseball fields..and baseball cards.. is pretty cool

Find one PSA 9 or 10..and it would be a solid pick

I got my first few of those last year. Very nice cards and surprisingly cheap raw.
