Always like to find pieces that are personalized with my name on them. Thought this was a cool piece from a somewhat difficult signature.

Nice stuff, guys. Here's the most recent piece I picked up. Though Waite Hoyt's autograph is common, I really like the content of these two pages. On Hoyt's page on my website, there's a letter I like even more where the pitcher gives a detailed analysis of Lou Gehrig and how the Iron Horse changed from when he first broke in to when he retired.

Baseballcrazy62 04-04-2020 08:33 AM

What an awesome letter. I had goosebumps reading that. Very cool!

Absolutely amazing letter Jim.

Thanks fellas. Letters like that are my absolute favorite kind of autographed collectible. Here's that other two-page letter from Waite Hoyt about Lou Gehrig. The second letter pictured is one of my favorites. Bill Dahlen's autograph can be tough to find. After 25+ years of looking for a good piece on him, I finally found this one. Really like the content. I'll post just one more picture, this one is a handwritten letter from Honus Wagner to Ford Frick. The content there is decent too.

You guys have me all fired up. Heck, I just remembered one more. I promise this is the last one. Candy Cummings is generally credited with inventing the curveball, but others also make the claim. Fred Goldsmith is one of those guys. Though I don't believe Goldsmith has a valid claim to designing the bender, I fell in love with his letter.

Thanks for indulging me. I'm not going to post any additional images here - wrong thread - but if you want to see some really neat content click here. You'll see three letters from Cardinals owner Sam Breadon to Stan Musial (there's good stuff on his page!) who had just completed his first year in the bigs. Any of the letters pictured and also the Breadon letter can be my favorite depending on the day. I'm sure there are a few more on the site, but that's for a another day.

Happy collecting!

126-128 came today. I now own the Braves rotation of doom that this little Mets fan hated to see with the addition of Greg :D

I put this together during the summer of 1981 at various games, but didn't get around to scanning it until today. It's a 14 X 18 artist's canvas. Mike Norris didn't sign autographs very often, I was proud of myself for getting him.

I love how just about every autograph is readable, and there is very minimal overlap.

Players today could take lessons from this piece.

nice addition doug! here's a pennant from the same era. it's really a shame that this is basically a lost art now...

doug.goodman 04-10-2020 06:34 PM

Wow! That pennant is fantastic (even though I still hate the Red's because of the 1970's team).

Yep, a lost art, sad.

Poster signed by the Jackson Five(not including Jermaine) and also includes a signature from the father. Not in the greatest condition but I would guess it has to be pretty rare. I believe its from 1976 because the Jackson Five did a concert series in Manila, Philippines in Feb 1976 called the Love Five.. Also the music company on the bottom of the poster is also from the Philippines. In March of 1977, the Jackson Five changed their name to The Jacksons because of their prior record company owning the Jackson 5 name.

Nice tough signature. Don’t see too many of his signatures out there.

Nice! Don't have him yet. Think he's at the very east a smidge harder to get on a gold one.

#129 arrived today. Bobby Cox of the dreaded Braves:

Stan the man-this day in history..

On this day: Stan the Man leads the cardinals to victory over the Redlegs with a two run homer in the top of the ninth. hall of famer Frank Robinson made his debut and gathered his first hit in the game... This ball was removed from an ohio estate and likely used in that game... There are 11 other signatures on the ball (no players). My gut tells me this one was a souvenir a fan captured, and perhaps had his friends whom attended with him sign... the date is actually in the same ink, just applied with significantly more pressure... Stan liked to use caps, and i believe the inscription is also olin his hand. light coat of shellack has held this beaut together for 64 years!

Not a new pickup but thought i would share

I don't post a lot of my pickups as I never think of it. I was going to show this to a friend via email so I thought I would post it here also. This is a 7½ x10½ envelope signed the the 1984 U.S. Women's gold medal winning basketball team during the Olympic games. This team has eight coaches and players who are members of the Basketball Hall of Fame: Cheryl Miller, Teresa Edwards, Anne Donovan, Denise Curry, Lynette Woodard, Coach Pat Head Summit, Assistant Coach Kay Yow and 2020 inductee Kim Mulkey. Donovan, Summitt and Yow are all deceased.

Summitt, as Patricia Sue Head, won a silver medal in the inaugural women's basketball tournament at the 1976 Olympics.

Anne Donovan won two gold medals and was the head coach of the U.S. Women's Olympic team winning a gold medal in 2008.

Lynette Woodard was the first female member of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Teresa Edwards is the most medalled Olympic basketball player, male or female, with 4 golds and one bronze.

Cheryl Miller is the sister of Reggie. He followed his sister into the Basketball Hall of Fame and as Olympic Gold medalist.

Thanks for sharing the women's basketball item. One of my favorite items I've come across on one of the boards lately.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I only collect/buy/sell Olympic autographs. I was quite pleased to find this. Got it from a stamp dealer, which is a great place to find items like this.
