1982 topps cal Ripken RC color variation ?
 

Anybody have any info.

I have 2 blue boarders rc while the green boarders are the correct one.

Sunbleached which faded out the yellow ink, turning the green to blue.
Not a variation, just damaged.

If it was faded wouldn’t it have changed the color also in the Baltimore Orioles and Future Stars lettering? Not just the stripes . Not saying it isn’t sun fade but only in that one area?

Read it again; sun fading/UV light affects yellow the most. The other areas you point out don't have yellow ink in them, however the portraits do, and those are also faded to remove the yellow.

I would say 99.999% faded. Only reason I don't say 100% is because of the low quality pictures.

I sure hope you didn't pay a premium for them.

Sun fade. There's a thread here somewhere that looks at this effect using 58 Aaron cards. Can't seem to find it at the moment but I know it's here

There are several just search "blue Aaron" and they will pop up.
