Wooden Figure, Sports?
3 Attachment(s)
Hi-
I am a frequent antique shopper and sometimes buy things on a whim. This is one such item. I believe it is handmade. Is there any chance this might depict a sports figure? One person I showed it to thought it might be a woman. There is a cape on the back. I also spoke to someone who believed one of the earliest woman baseball pictures shows a woman with a cape as part of her uniform. Does anyone have any ideas on what this might depict? If it helps, I purchased it at antique shop in Sturbridge MA several weeks ago but there was nothing on the tag to further identify it. Does anyone have any 19th century photos of sports players with capes they can share? Any ideas or thoughts are greatly appreciated. Alan |
It looks like a terrifying prop from a very scary horror movie.
Chucky, Annabelle and Slappy have nothing on that doll. Yikes! I don't know anything about it, other than that face is the stuff of nightmares. Seriously, it does kind of look like a baseball uniform and cap. Can you post a side-view of the head so we can see if the cap has a brim? |

Thanks Mark! I agree it looks scary. Here are some better pictures (I hope). The brim is kind of folded over the forehead.

Not sure about the cape... but could it be a jockey?
