PWCC Auctions & Re-Lists
Brent lists so many cards multiple times it seems odd. I understand when a card does poorly, perhaps the consignor requests the transaction be cancelled or whatever. But he's got a '56 Hodges that I bid 20-25% over the market on about a month ago and lost by a whole bunch. I figured "well, that card may have moved beyond me." It's back again? You'd think for $400 with shipping that would be a heck of a hammer for a '56 Hodges, no?
I guess the reason for posting this is that it makes bidding seem...pointless. Wouldn't a reserve or BIN be the way to go if the bidding isn't honored? Heck, I don't even mind the shilling! I'll only pay what I'll pay, regardless, but it's disappointing to go through the auction process repeatedly on the same damned card. Is this normal for you guys, or are these situations unique to me? Edit: I should note that I used to repeatedly bid on the re-lists. I have become reluctant to do so now until I gain an understanding of how these "sales" seem...well...fake. |
i find it a little disturbing that you understand if a card sells poorly a consignor can ask to have transaction cancelled?
This in of itself is quite disturbing to me. Quote:

I sold a 1965 Topps Frank Robinson with PWCC back in 2016. The purchaser never paid for it, so we re-listed it two months later. I'm not saying that happened here, but it does happen sometimes.

I hope your Post Post Traumatic Stress Disorder hasn't taken too much out of your day and do wish you a complete recovery. The use of the word "disturbing" twice in regards to a post that you actually failed to address is....disturbing. Phil |

Is a re-list a possible Vault Card ?

My understanding is that a non paying bidder is the most frequent cause of these relistings. I'm not sure if PWCC is the target of spam bidders but it's frustrating for consigners, bidders and AH across the board.

Made me laugh! I suppose the best thing to do is just bid accordingly and see how it goes. |
I've always been under the suspicion/impression many of these this bidders were shills FOR and BY PWCC or its associates. Thereby Showing huge ending prices, resulting in more consignments which never managed to reach the lofty heights. We DO know that many of "nice for the grade" cards were run up by card doctors knowing if they won, they could trim the card, grade and relist.

Cool story but I highly doubt that's happening on the business end of things. I'd be willing to guess that things have tightened up with the scrutiny and fallout from last year.
It's fun to dream up fascinating scenarios to create drama. But there's gotta be a limit. Quote:
