my friends bar mitzvah gift from the early fifties! Years ago I sold two of these along with the original ball and paperwork. That was then and this is now :-) Any idea on the current value - and does it pay to replace the battery - in other words the anticipated spread between working and not working... Tx in advance if you can help.

Those were wind up I don't think they used batteries. Also it appears to be missing the stem or the PIN to wind it up

as a result of your post I actually took a look at it :-) Right on all counts.

If original, certain this is a self wind mechanical. If its battery or replaced batter guts, I wouldn't guess it to be worth much. It is missing the stem to set time and self wind as already noted. The band is the right time period. There is probably more novelty in the watch as a whole, than the watch working. But people always ask 'does it keep time' even if they never plan to wear it. There are some old watch guys out there that would charge $50 -$100 bucks to get it working. In summary, I would think of this watch as a period novelty. There are quite a few out there. Cool to have one.
