Awesome pennant!
Not much from me since the month has just started -- The H&B advertising pens, 50s toy and 1905 hardbound Spalding guide all came from a flea market this weekend. The Oriole tin is probably not related to the baseball team, but the graphics are great. |

Paul — luckily the tin is bone dry!

Not sure if the box is legit but thought it was cool, i will eventually purchase some T206’s and lay them inside for a nice display.

Finally got this woodcut. I don't know what took so long.
|
Great pickup Gary. That is the nicest hand painted one of them, or any woodcut I have ever seen. Was that Cronin’s? I wish I had room for one.
|
Yes, Bruce, it was Joe Cronin's.

Maybe you'll like this one better. (see pic below). This the Cubs version (far right). As far as I know, the Cubs and Cardinals were the only two teams that ever did these. Bignoff... That's a nice figural piece (and pretty rare). I believe it was made in the 1920s or so, and served as either a Paperweight or perhaps just a souvenir Statue. I have seen the Cubs version made as an ashtray as well. Hope this helps, Mark |

It's a legit box and featuring R. J. Reynolds picture on the bottom...

A couple of gamers...65-69 Manny Mota and a 50/51 signed Tommy Holmes....both lifetime 300 plus hitters..
|
Great small stuff Jim.
Also love the Mota and Holmes bats — never would have guessed they were both lifetime .300 hitters! Greg |

Thanks Mark! I was told in St. Louis that it was a reward for newsstands or paper boys for sales. I was guessing it was from the late 30's or early 40's Very cool if it's older.

Thanks....wish there was a number on either end but if there was...long gone....however, after seeing a number of his 1970 bats....this one checks out with the exact same length and weight which what he ordered later on in his career.

I enjoy seeing the photos when you post items in your collection. Always great stuff - outstanding condition (right up my alley) and excellently displayed. Jerry Sage |
Thanks Jerry! Right back atcha…
I've always appreciated your impeccable taste and great eye for quality. If you're ever up in the Pacific NW (post Coronavirus of course) let me know... would love to grab a drink and give you a tour in-person! |

Amazing stuff posted this month. Time to bring this thread back to earth. I have been looking for this "rare" two sided version of the 1971 Willie Stargell Matel Instant Replay disc. I'm likely the only one who has been searching for it. For some unfathomable reason Vic Davalillo was not a favored subject of baseball photographers...go figure! Thankfully he wandered in front of Malcolm Emmons camera during the 1971 season at least once.

Very pleased to add this mounted photo to the Bridges collection. Has anyone else seen a similar photo of other Tigers?

+1. That is stunning...

I agree that it was most likely commissioned by Bridges and looks like something possibly made for autograph purposes...

1959 Kit's Manufacturing Company Cleveland Indians Autographed Portraits
6 Attachment(s)
Was fortunate to win 6 of 7 auctions for the 1959 Kit's Manufacturing Company Cleveland Indians Autographed Portraits on ebay last week. The group includes Gary Bell, Rocky Colavito, Tito Francona, Jim Perry, Vic Power, and Herb Score. The "Genuine Oil Painting Reproductions" are each in a small plastic frame measuring approximately 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" and the group is unopened in original packaging.
I lost out on a 7th piece which was Woodie Held (congratulations on a great pickup!). I've wondered for some time what the complete checklist looks like, but so far these are the only players I have seen. Until this auction I had not even seen the Held, Perry, and Score before! Hoping this will spark some interest and result in more of these coming up for sale. |
Those are awsome. I love the Vic Power.

Perhaps you never left, but that was the first I've seen you post in a looooong time! Fantastic collection of Hat Bands. Those are so scarce... I bet yours is the most complete collection of them to exist. My computer screen is crappy and my eyes are getting old and tired. So I can only make out the Tigers and Cubs. Can you post a more close-up photo that clearly shows them all? That's fantastic that you have so many displayed together. Hank: I still recall a Mastro Auction in which they had 3 of these (listed as individual lots), and all three sold in excess of $2K. In retrospect, maybe they were shilled up to that level, but who knows? Regardless they are very seldom-seen. I only have the Athletics, and it's actually still attached to a vintage Straw Hat (Connie Mack style...) |
