looking for constructive criticism
So I am working on a website {via big commerce}; it's not live yet and all prices are hidden, so I am not trying to sell anything right now. I'm looking for some input and opinions.
{Leon - If this is in the wrong forum please move} https://sports-cards-n-stuff.mybigco...b-537cd0cb9785 Specifically; how does it look, appearance, ease of use, etc? What do you think of category structure? Are images appearing and able to be zoomed and seen well enough; I'm considering get a newer scanner? Does search return the correct results? What happens if you add item wishlist? Are you getting errors, etc? Any and all opinions/criticism's appreciated |
need preview code?

It's asking for a preview code in both desktop browser and mobile. Can't get in.

Sorry about that; preview code below

The overall look and navigation seem fine.
A few thoughts The numbers of the categories are visible on some, not on others. I'm guessing they ultimately won't be visible, which would be better. The scans- Hopefully they're just test scans. They aren't all that good. Most likely from a scanner that can't handle slabs, as they are a bit blurry. Especially on the backs. With the zooming feature, I've never liked when the zoomed image is inside a frame when it can fit on the screen. Showing a bigger complete image in a... I don't recall the technical term, not exactly a popup, but where the larger image is shown complete in a new "window" overlaid on the website. While I prefer larger scans for the zoomed images, I get that space and traffic limits might be a problem. True high res scans - 6-800dpi would be a huge plus. But would take up lots of space/bandwidth. |
Don't have tons of time to devote to QA right now, but here are few thoughts:
1. Your preview code doesn't actually contain the period. 2. While I can see you do have images loaded for cards in different categories, your front page images are not loading. That might be intentional, but it's a bad first experience for people doing the preview. You should get images there ASAP. 3. On mobile, your site title is getting truncated at the top of the page. It shows up on my Iphone as "Sports-Car...". You should resize because having your site/company name front and center is important. 4. The mobile navigation is quite nice. The dropdown and expanding menus are good. But the desktop browser version is not as nice. When you expand the menus, the page is too cluttered. Too many columns and categories exposed at once. I think it should hide/expand similar to mobile (see DACardworld.com for examples) |
This was moved from the front page, after some responses to try to help, as it is in fact an e commerce site and only those which are paid ads should be on the front page. Nothing personal and good luck.

Website
I like your website and the way it is set up. However, there are some problems.
Look at 1970 baseball and you will see a 1970 Bart Starr card. Look at 1973 baseball and you will see a 1972 Roger Staubach card. The scans on nearly all of your raw cards are cut off and the edges of the cards are not visible. I agree with a previous poster who said that you are not using the correct scanner for the graded cards. They are blurry, especially when you zoom in on them. Search this site and you will find many threads on scanning graded cards. You basically need to re-scan every item that you have listed. I only spent 3-4 minutes on the site, so you may have other problems. Good luck with this. I hope it works out well for you. |
Thank you all; I will continue to work on this, please feel free to make additional comments as your time permits. You can always pm me too.

Does anyone know of a good CCd all in one printer scanner? While reading this post I saw how it would be beneficial and cant locate an all in one

All in one's suck at scanning in my experience. Get a good dedicated scanner.
