-16 today.

Saying "good morning" from beautiful, downtown, Boscobel, Wisconsin, where the temperature is a brisk 16 degrees below zero, not counting the wind chill. Thank heaven that the wind is light.

Frank, being a former Wisconsin resident now living in California, you are probably extremely jealous of me this morning.

My wife gave me a bottle of wine for Valentine's day. I am tempted to spend the day drinking wine and sitting by the fireplace. This is the kind of day that i stay inside and spend too much money on eBay and the BST.

It is hard to get motivated when it is that cold. At least I am retired and not out carrying mail.

bnorth 02-14-2020 06:42 AM

It's a balmy 6 above here this morning, we had the -24 yesterday morning with a nice 30 mph breeze.:)

Rhotchkiss 02-14-2020 07:14 AM

The only thing I don’t miss from days at Madison are the -10+ days. You Wisconsin people are tough.

Go Badgers!

darwinbulldog 02-14-2020 07:18 AM

High of 86 here in Ft. Lauderdale today. Go figure.

I didn't mind the cold. It was the 95 degree days that were tough.

Are you carrying mail today?

Yeah, the heat is always worse than the cold. It's easier to get warmer, but impossible to get cooler out there. Yes, I'll be out shortly. It's been a mild winter here in northern NJ. 30s today.

5° here in Michigan [emoji41]

whitehse 02-14-2020 10:08 AM

-7 degrees in beautiful Lake Geneva, Wisconsin this morning.

Lake Geneva is a resort town just over the Illinois/Wisconsin border that draws nearly every person that lives in and around the Chicago area to its cramped shoreline and chachkie-filled shops year round. I actually think this cold weather will keep the tourists away today which means the locals finally have the run of the town.....at least for one day.

samosa4u 02-14-2020 10:13 AM

With the wind chill, it feels like -20 right now in Toronto. I went jogging last night for thirty minutes. :)

I took the easy way out and jogged 4 miles on the treadmill at the gym yesterday.

Tony Gordon 02-14-2020 01:00 PM

Wow, I thought I had it bad at 2 degrees this morning in beautiful Waukegan, Illinois.

Stampsfan 02-14-2020 01:11 PM

Gawd it's warmer in Western Canada.
1 degree Celsius, or 34 degrees Fahrenheit.

GeoPoto 02-14-2020 01:20 PM

39° and raining in Bergen, Norway.

Actually, it's just a small houseplant that I glued pieces of Peanut Butter Crunch to.* Just Photoshop perspective manipulation.

Here in CT this Winter has been a piece of cake.. I can remember not that many years ago feet of snow and week long polar blasts.

jimmer77 02-14-2020 06:08 PM

I feel you guys from WI...I am in Baraboo, WI and it was -15 when I left for work in Madison.

Ben Yourg 02-14-2020 06:57 PM

Winter

I lived in Chicago, for a lot of years.
We had Winter. Then two months of warm
weather,and Winter again!

hysell 02-14-2020 08:14 PM

It was -14 this morning in NE ....Missouri !

KCRfan1 02-14-2020 08:40 PM

I grew up in KC and lived most of my 55 years there, with the hottest days and coldest days. Now I live in Laguna Niguel where we had a winter storm last week with light rain and 50 degrees. Hang in there, summer will be on the way for all of you in the cold. I do miss the big spring storms.

jiw98 02-14-2020 09:05 PM

We were a cool 14 degrees here in W MI along the lake shore. Lake Michigan is a beautiful thing, helps keep us a little warmer in the winter and a little cooler in the summer.

pokerplyr80 02-14-2020 09:57 PM

I don't miss those WI winters either. High was only 68 today in OC and it felt a little chilly outside.

Sure Jesse, but what was the wind chill factor?

Huysmans 02-15-2020 08:08 AM

Winnipeg has everyone beat... -35 with the wind chill yesterday.
...and Thursday was even colder.

Sounds like the response I got one time from someone from Gunnison, CO when asked "What do you do in the summer?"

The answer was "If it falls on a weekend, we'll go fishing."

It is a balmy 31 degrees today. I may go to the beach, although the water is still covered by ice. Which brings up the age old question - does water float?

It's actually been in the 50s and windy in the mornings this week. Quite cold for around here. Back in WI that sould have been shorts and t-shirt weather in January or February.

Exhibitman 02-16-2020 09:45 AM

My oranges and grapefruits are ripe and I am trying to decide which t-shirt to wear...The Ramones or Green Day.

Having grown up in Wiscsonsin, I remember the first day it would get to the 30s and it would feel like spring

birdman42 02-16-2020 10:02 AM

All your degrees are belong to us.

It's been a very wet couple of weeks her in central MD, but so far this entire winter no snow to speak of. We had 3-4 inches one day and by the next morning it was gone. My back is happy for no shoveling, but it just seems weird.

doug.goodman 02-16-2020 11:24 AM

I'm in the Bahamas on a cruise ship.

I took a few minutes for the hot water in my shower to kick in, prior to that I was freezing...

Doug "brrrrrrr" Goodman

PS - Adam, if the GD shirt is from the AI tour, go for it, otherwise, go with the Ramones...

Leon 02-19-2020 02:50 PM

-16 is a bit on the chilly side. Big D has had mostly a mild winter so far. (knock on wood)

Just ate outside and had the grouper sandwich on Anna Maria Island at the Ugly Grouper.

Was a comfortable -4F this morning in West Bend Wisconsin. There was no breeze, so not much of a wind chill.

I have several bird feeders in my back yard. It was -6 this morning when I filled the feeders, but the birds are very active when the weather is this cold, and right now my back yard has 30-50 birds, with several varieties, that are feeding, in addition to 12-14 squirrels.

So, the Wisconsin winters aren't all bad. That is what I keep telling myself anyway.
